We’re moving my son into McVoy today (he’s an RA). My daughter, who is our family foodie, has come up with suggestions for dinner and my son has narrowed it down to Parrains https://parrains.com/about.html and Stinky’s Fish Camp https://www.stinkysbr.com/

What says the food board? I don’t think we can go wrong with either but we need to make a decision.

Probably the least narcy RA you’d ever meet. Saving pop money, though, so he can be a Narc for that

our RA in Kirby Smith (has that shithole been demolished yet btw?) used to shoot arrows from his room at the end of hall all the way to the outside stairway door.

it took like 5-6 seconds for the arrow to make it all the way and i kept waiting for someone to walk out of their room.

Parrains is effectively more of a chain than Stinky’s, but that’s besides the point. Neither are foodie restaurants. I’ve eaten Stinky’s recently and there was some hokey band. The vibe fell terribly short for me, and I’m a fan of Stinky’s in Dune Allen.

Parrains.

Stinky’s best dishes (fresh catch) are better than Parrains, but on average the other way.

Go to Umami.

I was aware that both are at least multi location restaurants, if not chains.

I used the term foodie incorrectly, I just don’t know the term for someone who appreciates good food of all varieties but who isn’t pretentious (the way I think of most self proclaimed foodies, probably not really true as a blanket state, ent) in what she likes and takes time to research and read individual reviews when choosing new restaurants.

Exactly the type of run down I’m looking for.

That looks really good but I don’t think it’s what my son is looking for today.

Thanks

Between the two, Parrain's. If you want the same thing with a different atmosphere go to the Chimes.

Enjoy the time with your boy, lots of life decisions are coming his way. Let him know that incremental failures aren’t the end, and being right all the time at the expense of human interaction and friendship just makes you lonely...and being right but alone is no way to live. Leaving LSU with the girl of my dreams has been way more valuable than the physics and MS in EE degrees, and it’s not even close.

I’m blessed, my kids have all figured that out already. My son is starting his third year and has had his share of failures already. He just switched from math to business, with an eye on switching to finance. This kid, in particular, seems to be able the pick himself up, shake off the dust and move forward like few people I’ve met regardless of age.

Man, some of the craziest guys I knew in college were RAs.

There was a guy who had his dorm room lined with empty Jose Cuervo bottles. He won on a tequila drinking contest, so he wore a crown with "Tequila King" to class the next day.

There was another dude who would drink a shot of Everclear, then spray it out and light it on fire during parties. He went to Lollapalooza just to fight with people in the mosh pit.

There was another guy who made the best Jungle Juice on Earth. He invented a drinking game with dice called three man that would put your arse in the dirt.
