Started eating raisins... I've read contradicting advice on them though.. Also, peanuts, even though I saw high fat on the package I heard they're healthy. Also bought some activia yogurt, I don't like it that much though. Any other ideas? I get so hungry at night watching TV & was eating a lot of junk food so I'm trying to replace it with somewhat healthier stuff.

It's not just at night either, I've noticed that snacking on little stuff during the day makes me more sociable.

Lightly salted almonds, dill pickles and celery sticks for salty. Berry smoothies made with almond milk, crushed ice for the ice cream/sweet fix. If low carber and really want a chip like fix, go with pork rinds. I very rarely do this but it does fulfill the craving.

Stop reading so much. Raisins are a fruit. Sure, they may contain more sugar than other fruit but they are fine. It's all about macro and micro nutrient content.

My suggestion for your hunger issues is to eat more protein. Protein helps with satiety so you'll feel satisfied and full longer. Or for a snack focus on higher protein content snacks.
Nuts are fine but be careful since they are loaded with fats and carbs. For small items they are packed full of macro nutrients.

You could also buy protein powder and make your own high protein snacks.

If you want to lose some weight the best snack is an apple and a glass of water. It blows up in your stomach like you've eaten 10 times the calories that you actually consumed. And apples taste really good.

I appreciate the suggestions. I'm going to buy some of that almond milk and fruit and try to make a good smoothie. What else should I add? I'm guessing that the frozen fruit is best to use. I've been going to Smoothie King everyday. Their smoothies are so freakin good... but I added it up and I spent like close to $60 in the last week at Smoothie King. I would kill to learn how to make a smoothie just like they do... But I know it's basically impossible.. I've tried and tried.

I've been eating healthier (not exactly "healthy" though, but kind of) for the last 10 days and it's just amazing how much better it makes you feel... physically and mentally. It is tough to get used to though at first and more expensive.

I've been doing the same for like the past 4 months. I'm not on like a strict diet or anything, just more mindful eating and avoiding fried foods and sugars if possible.

Biggest thing for me I think was cutting out all sugary drinks like coke and sweet tea, drinking nothing but water, and limiting beer to weekends only.

As far as food goes I've been making a smoothie everyday when I get home after work. I use mixed berries, bananas, flax seed, vanilla whey protein, water and ice. They aren't quite on smoothie kings level, but they are still delicious.

Also have nuts, almond butter, Apples, and light and fit Greek yogurt (toasted coconut is my favorite flavor) as other snacks.

Red grapes, apples (Jazz and Honeycrisp), a half serving of peanuts, sometimes a spoonful of peanut butter.

Dill pickles. I love those things. I have to force myself to put the top back on the jar.

At the end of the day it's all about calories in vs calories out and hitting your macro and micro nutrients

Your rule of thumb for snacks should be- does it have adequate protein or fiber? If the answer is no then it's crap

Again, 150 calories of a donut and a 150 calories of an apple with peanut butter are the same, however the second option will leave you fuller and satisfied for much longer and with the donut you will end up eating more because you will want 5 more because your blood sugar will spike.

Greek yogurt, fruit, carrots, jerky, quest bars. These are my go to's

I keep snack size bags of beef jerky and pistachios that I get from Costco. I find it really helps with portion control. Also, maybe try changing the Activia yogurt to some sort of greek yogurt. It will have about the same calorie content if you buy low fat, but I think twice the protein.

Jerky and almonds are my go to. I keep several kinds of protein bars. Whatever fresh fruits and vegetables are in season. I keep some sugar free jolly ranchers and Popsicles to keep my sweet tooth at bay. I also buy Healthwise brand protein chips from a local health food store. Laughing cow light cheese wedges and light Greek yogurt are also some of my staples.

Forget Activia yogurt...its industrial crap. Not wonder you didn't like it. Find a different brand that contains milk and yogurt cultures, and maybe some fruit. Siggi's, Fage, Liberte....eat a higher protein yogurt with no pectin or stabilizers. Buy plain Cabot Greek yogurt and mix with chopped cucumber and finely diced onion, use it as a dip for whole grain pita or crackers or veggies.

Apples are great, esp sliced and spread w peanut or almond butter. Ditto for pickled veg: olives, green beans, okra, etc.
