I am headed to Boulder on Wednesday... flying into Denver. I wanted to know what the best pot worth picking up is. I am thinking of just bringing an extra bag and filling with weed and using it as my checked bag. Is this a bad idea? Should I just ship it to myself?
Nice

Not sure where you are, but you can get Odell's, Oskar Blues', and Avery's normal stuff very easily in Texas. I personally don't think I would use my bag space on those unless it's some limited release stuff like Avery Rumpkin. But that's just me.
As others have said, Russian River does distribute there but it goes very fast.
Crooked Stave has some delicious bottles out in their regular lineup but their taproom usually has something really interesting.
Trinity Brewing out of Colorado Springs does some good stuff that is worth a try.
Funkwerks has some good stuff out there, although I haven't seen a big bottle selection anywhere.
Almanac is a san fran brewery that is worth a try if you find some on shelves. They have some really cool looking "farm to barrel" series beers but I've only gotten to try one.
FiftyFifty is another california brewery that is supposed to put out some good stuff. I have a bottle of their 2013 imperial stout in the cellar that is supposed to be really good. Not sure what else they have around there.
Hope that helps

Upslope IPA (Boulder brewing, I think) is on my top 10 all time IPA list. Very solid beer.

I just flew back from Chicago with about a dozen bottles in my suitcases. Put them in ziploc bags and wrap in dirty clothes.
Thanks for the info, may end up shipping some.

I could go into detail but probably shouldn't. Edibles do look a lot like regular arse candies doe.

Or should you?
How can they regulate the edibles? Are they taking nibbles out of all the candy?
I'm more concerned with the beer technique. Will try suitcase and dirty clothes.
Do the clothes specifically have to be dirty ?

I'm a little prone to overkill. One wrap of small bubble wrap around each bottle/can. Secure with rubber band. Put into two gallon ziploc (bottles) or gallon (cans). A gallon holds three 12 oz cans vertically and a 16 across for a perfect fit. Wrap the bagged goodies into clothes (dirty if it was a successful trip).
Second the suggestion about weighing it at the hotel. Once had to chug several cans of CCB brews at the Key West ticket counter or give the TSA SOB's more booze for their next party. Airlines don't play on overweight charges. Ask about the time I carried a full venison hindquarter and stowed it in the overhead on a flight home from Michigan.

Like others have said, it is highly unlikely that you can find any RR. Also, Oskar Blues is available in TX. I can get you some of their stuff. Odells is available there too. As good as those beers are, I would not try and haul that stuff back. Focus on FunkWerks, Crooked Stave, and Fiftyfifty.

If the store has any Russian River, its going to be in the back. Last 2 times I was in Denver I was able to get some just by talking to the guys at the beer store.

So subjective but man, you're going to have a ball.
Landing in Denver? Take your time getting to Boulder, trust me.
My hit list would include going to Denver Beer Co. Kickass place to drink, and I brought back a growler of their graham cracker porter. Prost Brewing for german beer, Dry Dock makes a good hefe and their Apricot Blonde is one of the better fruit beers I've had, if you like those types. And of course there is Wynkoop, CO's first brewpub and Denver's first micro brewery. Not a super fan of many of their beers but the restaurant is good and the billiards on the 3rd floor are free Mon-thurs till 6 while you drink. A lot of this stuff can be found in CO's liquor stores, but the one off, good stuff is at the brewpubs. So yes, bring an extra bag.
Enjoy!

You should definitely check Crooked Stave. Its located in a badass little market type place called The Source. Restaurants, cheese shop, butcher, etc are located in there as well.

The only thing we get from 50/50 is the BA Eclipse stouts. They are all over $30 a bottle and not worth it at all so they sit on shelves here. If you like em and are willing to pay that much then go to Davidsons or Lukas on the south side and you can get like the last 3 yrs worth in almost every barrel style.
Funkwerks you should try before you buy. Some people love em(myself included) but others hate them. Its one or the other, no in between. I would buy a bottle and drink it before you get 6 bombers you may hate.
Crooked Stave you should buy at their tap room at The Source. They will have the best selection and prices are the same you will pay at a liquor store. The autumn Surrette is out now and I think it sucks. It was brewed with fennel. So try it before you stock up.
Avery has some of their BA stuff in stores and most of it is pretty good. The last few releases have been BA beers that are over 15% abv, I'm not touching those. Anything that big gives me an instant hangover but again, people love em.
Russian River last hit here the second to last week of october. We get shipments every 3-4 weeks so you may luck out. I refuse to shop at places that pull that "have to ask for it" shite, so who knows what you will find by asking. I won't play that game. If you don't put it on the shelf then I assume you don't carry it and I won't go back.
I know we have been getting a bunch of Almanac and Cascade lately, if those interest you. I like the Almanac but hate Cascade.
If you see Comrade Superpower on tap anywhere drink the shite out of it. Its a great ipa.
I'm out of town until the end of the month but if you want suggestions on where to go hit me up.
My favorite places in denver are Great Divide, Falling Rock, Hops and Pie, Crooked Stave, Freshcraft, Prost, River North Brewing,Hogshead, Epic, and Euclid Hall. Pretty much in that order for me also. Comrade is a little bit south but their beers are so good its worth the drive. They are without a doubt the best new brewery in Denver. I plan to keep their stuff on tap at my house.
Liquor stores-Mr B's, Mile High, and Joy are where I go. People like Small Batch, Highland and Argonaut, I don't.
Boulder I like Backcountry Pizza. It probably has the best tap list of anywhere in the country. I also love Avery, they always have some tap room exclusives and this will be their last year at the current spot. And like I tell everyone, if you are at Avery it is s short ride to Longmont to hit Oskar Blues. And if you are in Longmont then why not check out Left Hand? And so it begins...
Hazels is a good liquor store in Boulder.

Holy hell.
That was a damn good post that I hate to derail, but I can't imagine hating Cascade. Perhaps it's an issue of availability that causes me to like them, but damn. I've had a few Cascades and thought they were excellent. Perhaps dollar value is the issue? I'm willing to pay the premium because I can't get them. Maybe if they were more available I'd feel the same way?
