I have eaten at Pancho's Buffet in Dallas (Hurst) maybe twenty times when our kids were little. I have not been inside one in twenty years, but I would go tomorrow. Always had whatever I wanted and seconds if I wanted them. Never had any stomach problems and certainly no next day discomfort.

Ignore these little girl sissy eaters here and go give the place a try if you want to. I doubt you will be unhappy any at all.

Sometimes I wonder how some of these guys ever got past their (deleted).

Sheeesh

Used to get high as shite and go to the one in The Woodlands in high school. Only time I've ever sharted myself was after a baked ponchos session...

I've eaten at the one that was on Nicholson across from the Prince Murat motel. It was horrid, but raising the flag was novel.

We usta eat at the one in BR back in the 70's it ws kinda like a hang out for us kids for a while. 6 or 8 guys would show up and raise the flag and leave it up for a couple hours. Being kids we usta sneek out a few of us and stick the tabs on the spikey trees outside. We would bite the corners off of the "sofa pillows" (what we called em) and fill them with butter and honey. They closed it down for a while for serving horse meat We were in line for when it opened back up a week later. We joked that if that was horse it was good and we wanted more.

I agree and I am a poster on this board who has posted 3 different scratch enchilada recipes. Those are the shite

I remember we had our end of year team party for my baseball team when I was in 5th grade at Panchos and I must have raised the flag a dozen times just to eat more of those enchiladas.

I loved the one in Baton Rouge and New Orleans. Flautas and sopapillias by the truck load. It was awesome. You should definitely try it out.

I don't think it is. There was also one in maybe Monroe that is gone.

The last one I ate at was somewhere south Of Dallas that the sons and I stopped at maybe 15 years back.

I always liked Pancho's As I recall they had good guacamole.

There's an unofficial one in Kenner on Williams. It goes by the name of 2 Amigos. The owners used to work at Pancho's and when they closed here in Metairie, they adapted to save their jobs.

My wife and I caught the nostalgia about 6 months ago and paid a visit. Big mistake. We found out it was exactly the same as Poncho's, just with higher prices.

It's just not good food. A lot of it comes out of a can. Never be back.

The "raise the flag" concept is awesome, and I wish every restaurant had it.

Waitperson, leave me alone. If I need you, I will raise my flag. No need to keep a lookout and try to make eye contact, etc.

FWIW Two Amigos on Williams in Kenner is the same thing. Pretty much identical.
