NOLA.com is reporting that Halal Guys (the growing Middle Eastern chain) has two "coming soon" locations in New Orleans, at 301 St. Charles and 3100 Magazine.

The Magazine location is currently occupied by GG's Dine-O-Rama (most unfortunate name) and the restaurant owner has declared his intention to renew the lease in May. So someone's wrong here. Unfortunately, I suspect the lease agreement must be mutual and the property owner sounds to already have an agreement with Halal Guys.

This would also be another chain to open on Magazine as part of a growing trend that's been much written about before.

I look forward to trying the downtown location as I work right in that area.

Found a sample menu online:

$2 Baklava could do damage.

I'm a fan of transparent extra protein fees. I ask for double meat pretty much anywhere I go. #gainz

They call themselves a middle eastern chipotle. I hope it fails.

What's wrong with the guy in Place St Charles food court serving the same exact thing?

Did you grab a slice at Sbarro while you were up there too?

I've had that. Nothing wrong with it. But I like more options. They don't serve shawarma style chicken. It's more like a bone-in stewed chicken.

When I'm in that foodcourt, I get Rick's grill, double meat grilled chicken salad.

nice, not a lot of cheap middle eastern fair in New Orleans (that i know of)

Tons of it in BR.

Atcha's is my favorite, but it sorta has that Palestinian Chicken Epsiode of Curb feeling to it. if you know what i mean.

Uhh..no. I did, however, have a hotdog from Nathan's and a burger from Steak n Shake.

Moving back from BR to Nola has really hurt my Greek dining. Not too many places to get a gyro in Nola, especially when there seems to be one every block in BR.

Also, seriously hope GG's doesn't get kicked out, that place is delicious.

I'd rather eat at a local Middle Eastern place than a chain. We have some pretty good places around here.

They came to Southern California already. Not the same. Something about eating it on the street at 2 AM in New York City makes it work.

I'm going to assume you meant Shake Shack.

Steak n Shake deserves no dancing banana. Ever.

I also agree that a Halal Guys chicken platter, extra white sauce, add BBQ sauce, from the original cart is outstanding. The perfect 2:10am food also.

Hint: order it without the sorry little side salad (just lettuce and tomatoes) and they compensate by giving you a lot more rice and chicken.
