We are having a birthday party for my 7 year old tonight. We are taking the Ruffino limo to Ruffino's with seven girls and sitting at the pizza bar.

We did it a few months ago with my nine year old and had a blast.

If you ever can't think of a good birthday party for a 7-12 year old, do this. It is very inexpensive. The limo is free (just tip the driver) and the pizza is about $12 a kid (plus cotton candy).

I know those inflatables are over $200 each, any birthday party at Chuck E Cheese, bowling, etc will run you well over $200.

This is the worst thing that could happen to Ruffino's. Ruffino's is not a kids Bd party place. I really hope they (management) would not let something like this take place. If i am having dinner at Ruffino's the last thing I want to hear is a bunch of noisy 7yr olds.

You must have never been to Ruffino's. it's not some quiet, romantic restaurant. Every time I go there, it is packed, noisy, etc. 7 kids sitting at the pizza bar is not going to affect anyone. When we did it back in January, the girls sat quietly at the pizza bar like little ladies. We had more people say that was a great idea for a party. The kids are not running around like they are at Chuck e cheese. They are just sitting at the pizza bar, where kids are always sitting every time I go there.

We are not bringing cake, presents, etc. we are having that when we get back home.

Yeah .. 7 little girls sat at attention, looked straight ahead, and quietly ate pizzas ..

What's next ? Pop-A-Shot and Skeeball machines at Ruffino's ?

Ruffino's

Wait, isn't that one of the more "upscale" places in BR?

Posted by theBeard not saying its not kid friendly, just not a place for a kids party. Yes, I am very good friends with Ruffin and eat there once a week with my wife. I know his intention is not to have a restaurant that hosts 7yr old bd parties

If you walked in the restaurant and say us tonight, you wouldn't even realize it is a birthday party. There will be no streamers, balloons, cake, hats, etc. just 7 girls sitting at a pizza bar (where kids sit at all the time). That's what makes it a great party, the girls love acting like grown ups, eating at a fancy restaurant. It's not the norm, run around, acting like heathens.

Plus, while the kids dine on pizza, we are at a table dropping another $200+ dollars. I don't think Ruffin cares about a small party of kids at the pizza bar.

It is a upscale restaurant as in food, but the atmosphere is not upscale. It nearly has a sports bar feel to it, with all the tv's, pizza bar, etc.

I wouldn't do this at Gino's, Strobe's, etc, because they have more of a romantic atmosphere to it.

7yr olds acting like grown ups does not compute. You are actually devaluing the Ruffino's brand. If this was my place I would be appalled that people think they should have kids bd parties here.

You either don't have kids or your kids are heathens. I only have daughters and I know how they act in places like this (well behaved), but I don't think a party like this would work with boys the same age, they tend to be rowdy.

We did the limo for my daughters party and they had a great time. It is a good idea. Don't let others rain on your parade.

Holy dog shite! All out attack over bringing a group of young girls out for a grown up dinner for his little girl's b-day???

It's not like he is bringing in a bus load of smelly, drunk vagabonds or something...

Me and wife eat there more than the average diner(about 6 times a year, the manager says the average is about 3-4). Plus, both my daughters love this party, it's the second one we have done. The other girls said is was the best party they ever been to.

We just using this time as one of our times to go eat there.

Just went to their website because I don't live in Louisiana and didn't know anything about the place.

Their website listed events that the specialize in and b-day parties are listed. I didn't see where it said b-day parties for old plucks only or anything like that... By the looks of the place it looks nice and doesn't look like a chuckle cheese or anything....I think that the OP acknowledged the fact that it wasn't. To me it sounds like he is well aware of the expected behavior appropriate for the restaurant as he visits it on a regular basis.

Easy Triggers.

We will sit at a table in the pizza bar area (just behind the hostess stand). It's not like we are dropping them off and leaving them for someone else to care for.

To Beard:

You keep saying "birthday party". It's not a party at the restaurant, it will be when we get home and in the limo. It will just be seven pretty little girls all dressed up in pretty little dresses, having dinner. Like I said, if you walked in tonight, you wouldn't even know it was going on because the pizza bar is always full of kids while their parents eat at a table.

I can see this being fun for older kids, but riding in a limo to dine out seems a bit adult for 7 year olds. What will they do for junior prom? Fly to Cancun? I can only imagine the sweet sixteen blowout.

It's a birthday party arms race, akin to the wedding industrial complex. Too much is too much.
