I would eat before you left Lafayette or drive an hour to nola. There is nothing worth eating in BR except chain restaurants.

Go to Southfin Poke. It's next to The Bulldog. You'll thank me later.

I went to Southfin a couple of weekends ago.. the food is really good, but I don't really understand the Poke craze. It was $35 for my wife and I to eat lunch there. Presumably the cost is high because it's sushi-grade fish and keeping it fresh and all, and that's great.. but then why douse that delicious fresh fish in all kinds of sauce and shite? I left scratching my head.

Southfin is really good, but the dude is coming from Denver where Yelp says they have more than 5 places to get poke. Not that I think he should do a burger place either, but at least there's a good bit of variation from place to place when it comes to burgers. I can't imagine our poke is much different from his.

I can't find a burger in Denver that utilizes the spice/onion combination that Roul's has.

I know it's not the same, but you've had Crave Real Burgers up in Denver, huh?

Curbside and Merchant have quality burgers for sure. But if the seasoning and onions are what you crave, Roul's is where to go. Geaux Tigers, frick Five Guys!

Times have changed. This isn't New Orleans by any means, but BR has some great local places now.

Raul's is good, but as others have said your nostalgia may be getting the better of you. The Merchant is better as is Curbside. The Merchant is in the Perkins Overpass area, quite a bit up the road from Perkins Rowe, near Ivar's and Duvic's. They have some really outstanding appetizers and other dishes as well.

Curbside is on Government Street between Acadian and Foster, right by Calandro's. Best burger in town in my opinion.

With that said, Raul's can be a bit cheaper than those other places.

If you want sashimi, go to a sushi place.

Fwiw, you don't have to douse the bowl in all kinds of sauces. You can build your own.

To the OP, next door at chimes has a better burger, and beer. If you just want nostalgia, eat at Rouls. It's the same garbage for the last 15 years

I can walk to a Crave Burger near my home, and there are endless burger options in Denver. It might be nostalgia, but my brain has been stuck on the thought of a juicy juice with fries.

I can get a good burger anywhere, was seeing if there are any other restaurants that offer a well seasoned burger similar to a juicy juicy. Fortunately, I'll be making two trips through BR over the long weekend, so I can try a couple I suppose.

I would just go to Rouls. You're basically asking where you can get a juicy juicy from somewhere else, which I don't think will meet your expectations

Nah... although I think there are many things on the menu at Chimes better than a Roul's burger, the actual burger isn't one.

Can't argue that one.

Yeah, get the juicy juicy. I like adding chicken to mine.

Roul always tells people "juicy juicy like a pussy" in his restaurant. Seems like a juvenile marketing tactic, but I think it has worked.

I guess this is the same target audience that says STTDB

You're right; but that's exactly why I don't really understand the craze it's gotten lately.

I should have built my own for sure. If/when we go back I will do just that. Now that I know what to expect, I am sure another visit there will be better. The food was very good and that looked like the cleanest kitchen I've ever seen.

If you want a really bland burger, go to the Merchant.

Maybe I got a bad one, but I was extremely disappointed. Curbside is much better.

If it's nostalgia you are looking for, go to the chimes.
