Taking the wife to the Trans Siberian concert in New Orleans Thursday night. Need a recommendation of a good restaurant with an intimate setting. Thanks!

Herbsaint (corner of St. Charles and Girod) would be a good one considering you'll be going to the Arena. You could park and walk from there, 5-10 min. walk.

I second Herbsaint considering the location and Atmosphere.

Delmonico would be another one.

If you're going to go to Irene's, might as well do Tommy's in the WH District since it's the same menu, nice place, and more convenient to the Arena.

Tommy's in the warehouse district. Same type of food as Irene's and closer to the arena. Great atmosphere.

Herbsaint>Tommy's>Irene's

With that said, Eleven79 is a great restaurant and doesn't get enough attention on this board.

I am now considering there for me for pre-trans-siberian dinner on Thursday.

TA, have you ever seen Trans-Siberian before??

You'll definitely enjoy it...alas, I can't go this time, but I was lucky enough to see them at the Saenger in 2003.

Yes, they were great...my gf has never seen them and my whole family scored free tickets.

I may need to do a quick meal depending on work...I was thinking Singha or Mother's. If I have time, I was going to do Eleven79 or La Boca.

Hmm...Mother's seems a little lowbrow for you!

I haven't been there in quite a while...too much yelling for me!

Awesome that you got free tix, though...that will at least take away some of the pain of the property tax bill!

Restaurant Cuvee is intimate with great atmosphere for that sort of evening and great food.

LOL...property tax bill was paid by the mortgage company. Thank God!

No restaurant is too lowbrow for me. Most of my favorite places are hole in the walls and small ethnic joints. Most on here don't ask about the best lebanese, vietnamese or cuban though.

Great restaurant...you won't get out of there cheap though.

MiLa is a great option that is pretty close to the Arena.

You are correct TA. It ain't cheap. If cheap is what you're looking for, that's not the place, but it fits well with "intimate" and is far better than "good".

I did go to Pho Tau Bay once...I just couldn't eat anything. Had a Coke and tried not to think what they were serving the people with me!!

But I have been curious about Lebanon's Cafe...can you recommend something there? I wouldn't have a clue...

I love pho tau bay.

Lebanon's is the best middle eastern in the area IMO. It is BYO...no corkage fee. I have tried the whole menu pretty much...my favorites are the hummus, falafel, and souvlaki wrap or any wrap for that matter...throw in one more app...and the bill will maybe break $15-17 for two people.

My girlfriend and I go about once every two weeks.

New Orleans truly excels at lebanese and Vietnamese foods for obvious reasons.
