Having people over on Sunday. Any places other than Popeyes that have good fried chicken to go in the Metairie/Nola area?

Dixie Chicken is a solid choice but they're closed on Sundays.

How good is Guillorys chicken? People rave about their tamales.

Manchu is great, just be aware of your surroundings going in and out. Rough area of town

There is a gas station about 1 block up Louisiana up from St Charles. They were open during Mardi Gras and that Asian man had just hired this nice black lady to fry chicken for him. It was some of the best fried chicken I have ever had! I still have fat boy dreams about it.

NOTE: There are 2 stores on that corner. The one on the upper side of the block is the one you want. the other place is run by Arabs and they make poboys too. Nice enough folks but they ain't got good chicken.

Bayou Hot Wings is great but I prefer the wings at Blue Oak. Bouree is good too but pricey.

Too bad it's a Sunday--cause Chap's Chicken (the old Chicken Sue on Harrison in Lakeview) is my big order fried chicken go-to place: LINK /

Chap's is good. I like that he kept a lot of Sue's recipes.
