Do you store your beans in the freezer, or is this unnecessary? I currently do not store my purchased ground coffee in there, and it tastes just fine. I'm guessing the whole beans will be fine as well, but I am curious to your (and others') opinion.

I just got back from Maui last week, and I brought 2 pounds of Kona with me. I got the ground bags vs beans, and now I feel like I may have wasted $40. I did put this in freezer, but buying whole beans and grinding myself would've been the better route to take

ETA: I used to use french press all the time years ago until I broke my container. I have never replaced it, and now I use my Bunn reservoir drip and toddy. You have got me interested in replacing my FP with this thread. I loved it when I had it

It is important not to refrigerate or freeze your daily supply of coffee because contact with moisture will cause it to deteriorate. Instead, store coffee in air-tight glass or ceramic containers and keep it in a convenient, but dark and cool, location.

Not a waste. I'm sure it'll still taste great.

As far as freezer goes I agree with Grammar; I don't like to keep my beans or grinds in the freezer due to moisture. I have a tupperware that I keep my beans/grinds in. Usually just the beans .. it takes literally 20 seconds to grind beans fresh, well worth it to get that extra pop of flavor.

Why so many downvotes? I didn't know anything about French press coffee before, but the process doesn't seem so bad. If the taste is much better, I'll definitely give it a try. Appreciate the post

For sure. It's fun to tinker around with. Although coffee @ work is more for utilitarian purposes it's still better than slugging down gas station swill .. when it really shines is as a fresh made cup of French press coffee early on a Saturday morning with some hot eggs and bacon. That's a pretty special experience.

Classic.

That's something I never bother to look at.

Guess this was too much talk on coffee that requires more then a cup and a pushed button.

I was French Pressing before people were going all Pioneer Woman and taking unnecessary pictures of the process.

We use illy espresso in ours. Makes a good up of coffee

Cool pics. Are you in the industry?
I have a friend who used to work for P&G and she was coming down sometimes to check on their warehouse, etc.

She is in town right now for some high end coffee association convention.

Great insight. Anything else you need to tell us to make yourself feel better? Maybe a passive aggressive jab at a particular person?

Like Nespresso .. it's just a fancier version of Keurig pods. Weak, bland coffee in better packaging.

I have a decent small burr grinder from Bodum that is a little cheaper.

I think that you get a burr grinder is the important thing.

all I can get over here. It's a fine powder and does a great job. I don't need some over priced brand, but illy or Lavazza are the only coffee brands available. I only mentioned it because you're the type of poster to think I was trying to be impressive.
