The biggest tragedy to happen in NOLA since Katrina. The city has never recovered and probably will never recover from this disaster.

My arse is grateful, but my heart is still sad. RIP lemon pie.

I lived about 3 blocks down from it when it went up in smoke. Event was memorialized in a song by Johnny Sansone:

Apparently the partners cannot agree on rebuilding or even licensing the brand. So, no pies for you.

Although I saw them at every gas station checkout, I've never had a Hubig's pie.

they need to stop being a bunch of assholes and do what's right for the city. Forgot about those stupid statues, this is what people need to be up in arms about. #NoPiesNoPeace

They weren't like anything else out there. It was a stuffed pie, shaped like a calzone, but smaller. Had a thin crispy crust that was fried and glazed with icing like a donut.
I would get one occasionally at Calandro's. They carried the biggest selection of flavors. I liked the lemon, coconut and chocolate.

They were quick to take money from a bunch of folks for "a case from the first run". Wonder what happened to all that money?
When I saw that ad, I just knew the place would never reopen for some reason and didn't buy in. Glad now.

I've been in LA for 15 years or so. I've seen them, but I'm just not a dessert person therefore I've never tried them. I know what they are and why peeps would like them though.
