Among everything else listed this one gave me sticker shock. For health reasons I cut way back on consumption of deli meats but decided to cheat a little recently. Maybe as a necessity they feel they can gouge, but milk hasn't skyrocketed like bread.
On the plus side chicken wings are as cheap as they've ever been ($1.29/lb recently) so there's that.

In the past I would head to Rouses a few times a year when I had a hankering for a muffaletta and they sell the large seeded bread in a pack of 2, so I'd pick up one of them and then head to the deli counter and buy the following:
1 lb. Chisesi Ham
1/2 lb. Mortadella
1/2 lb. Genoa Salami
1/2 lb. Provolone Cheese
Then head to the aisle with the olive salad and pick up a small jar.
Once home I could make 2 large muffs that fed 4 people easily and although it was not cheap, it was still way cheaper than buying them already made from Venezia or Liuzza's.
NOW, it's break even if you're lucky.

I got our sale ads yesterday and commented how cheap everything seemed for the first time in quite a while 
FWIW walmart parsley is like $0.70.

I'm not a poor man but I've grown more frugal with age. Weekly ads pretty much dictate what I am going to eat for the week. Albertson's has chicken thighs for .77 / lb. I will be clucking by next Friday.

I'll assume that is for a bundle of fresh parsley in the produce section. What the OP was referring to is a container of dried parsley. I grow and dry some of my own herbs and to get a container of dried parsley, you'd have to buy at least a dozen or so bundles of fresh.
They lose volume when dried and crushed.

I get 3 weekly ads sent to my e-mail every week:
Rouses, Winn-Dixie and Zuppardos. I too shop for bargains with pork butts for $.99 a lb., leg quarters for as low as $.49 a lb. and split breasts for $.99 a lb. often finding their way into my freezer to use as needed.

nope i meant dried. i bought some couple weeks ago. i just checked and it's $1.18. i have not tracked the price of parsley, but that price alone is not absurd. my point is there's lots of items that have gone up in price, parsley isn't a very good example. also prices seem to be moderating a good bit. bacon is back to what it was pre covid. most other meat also relatively the same price. it seems to me the biggest culprit in food inflation is packaged processed goods, which are outrageous. but it does seem to be subsiding a bit.

I use it sometimes, particularly when the parsley at the store is bad. I went to a store a few weeks ago for some and it was all slimy and awful, so I used some dried instead.
I typically keep it on hand in a glass jar.

I grow it every year and my plants this time of year are fading quickly as it gets hotter. I've never been able to have parsley in the ground during our summer months in New Orleans and even in pots where it can be kept out the direct evening sunlight, it doesn't do well. And I've grown both curly leaf and flat leaf varieties over the years.
Now, sweet basil, mint and rosemary LOVE the summer heat and grow faster than I can use it.

I have noticed the old BAIT AND SWITCH with the grocery sale ads... Three times in the past month I have gotten "It was a mis-print in the ad", "The company has decided to discontinue the product" and "We are out of stock"... Twice from Rouses and once from Winn Dixie... Bastards just get you in the store on a great sale item and crappy excuses for not having item...

I've never experienced that at the Rouses near me. The closest thing I got was I was in their store not long after they opened the day the sale started for $.99 a lb. pork butts and they had none in the store, but had the truck out back being unloaded with them in the order.
I just came back later and got a couple 2 packs of them.

I have a big jar of dried parsley that has a Schwegmann's price sticker on it, it looks like I've used a couple of tablespoons worth in 25 years. But if I ever see a recipe for dried parsley gumbo, I'm all set.
