I've gone to Five guys on two occasions at two locations, Orlando and Covington with high hopes. But, it's terrible. I don't get the hype.

The burger meat is devoid of flavor. It's got no seasoning and it's fried on a griddle and often burned on the edges. The meat is so flavorless that the tomato and condiments completely overwhelm it.

Then, it commits the unforgivable sin for a burger joint that holds itself up as better than the big three...it uses crappy, waxy American cheesefood as cheese. I was blown away by that. What a joke. The Big Mac's cheese has more flavor.

Not sure where they got the rave reviews they post all over the restaurant. Either people in D.C., Baltimore, etc. have no taste or the owners paid for them. I suppose if Applebees or Red Lobster is ones idea of good food then Five guys can seem impressive.

Places like Bud's Broiler( where meat has flavor) and Lee's are vastly superior to this dreck. In fact, BK is more flavorful...and that's sad.

While I do like many other cheeses on a good burger I have zero problem with good old processed American cheese on a burger because this and a classic grilled cheese is precisely what it belongs on.

What is wrong with a griddle? A flattop that is seasoned well cooks a great burger and many people would argue it's the best way to cook a burger.

Five Guys is ok. Not the best but certainly cannot be compared to a Big Mac or BK.

Oh well...

Definitely a step above typical fast food places, but still below what you think of when you want to get a quality burger.

It's kind of like the middle ground of burgers to me.

That's what I expected but, no. No taste, none. A tomato and mayo sandwich is what I would've guessed had I been blindfolded. The Whopper has more taste.

To an earlier poster...A griddle, at least in this case, imparted absolutely no flavor to the meat, that's the problem.

I ate at the one in Covington yesterday for the first time, and left quite pleased. It was the best burger I have had in quite some time.

Maybe I picked a good time to go.

If you can't taste meat perhaps a doctors visit is needed.

Nice try, Local Burger Joint Owner.

In all seriousness, the couple times I've had Five Guys it was just average. I prefer Backyard Burger over Five Guys, but I'll take Five Guys over most of the fast food places.

Try a chili dog next time you are at Backyard Burger. They make a nice one.

I have yet to try Five Guys but I've basically had friends tell me that I'm better off going to Wendy's to eat a burger.

My cardiologist must love Five Guys. I distrust any place that puts up on their chalkboard the farm in Bumfrick, ID where their potatoes were grown. Give me a break.

The guy that sells them potatoes sold them the first day they opened and has grown with them and invested a bunch of money to increase his business. All with no contract. A handshake deal.

Why would a sign stating where they buy their potatos make you distrust them? You must be a very paranoid person. BOO!

If a bland hamburger is your idea of a disaster, you lead a very sheltered life.

The cheese is what really killed me with this place. Its def not worth the hype I heard leading up to trying it.

for a fast food burger, it's not bad. 100x better than BK, McD, or Wendy's.

But I agree, it's nothing special.

Tried the one in Lake Charles the other day, I liked the idea of all the "add-ons" you can include on your burger but the bacon was burnt to a crisp, the patty was too well-over done & the fries were greasy & over-done also. That was my first experience at a Five Guys & even with the over done bacon, patty, & fries I would probably try it again but all in all, I think it is no better than Wendy's.

Wendy's
I think this is the benchmark for fast food burgers. It's the only one I eat semi-regularly.

Where is 5G located? You think locals will choose 5G over Cotton's or Dairy Barn?

Backyard Burgers=
But I agree, Five Guys is better than most fast food burgers with the exception of perhaps Wendy's.
