I prefer Backyard Burger over Five Guys,

I've never had Five Guys but Backyard Burger was trash and barely stayed open a couple years in Lafayette.

The FG franchises in DC and NOVA are usually pretty good. But word on the street is that when they expanded nationwide quality took a nosedive.

Where is 5G located? You think locals will choose 5G over Cotton's or Dairy Barn?

It's in the old Hollywood Video on Ryan by Books-a-million. I went for the first time the other day and I'll take Dairy Barn any day over Five Guys.

thank you. I believe it is a second level chain at best. Give me a good thick mom and pop burger dressed out the right way with chedder any day.

Back yard burgers are the best value for the money in my opinion. Their waffle fries rock, along with the cherry cobbler.

Sonic strawberry shake is nirvana

I can't figure 5 guys out. Their location in Covington is about 1/4 mile from my office. You normally can't get in the place.

I thought the burger I had there was awful.

For my money in that area, can't beat Lee's hamburgers.

I ate at Five Guys in BR today. Enjoyed it. Not the greatest burger ever, but I will go back.

I just don't buy this argument. The product is simple so that consistency is maintained. It can't be that different. There are two people. There are those that blow the expectations up and it can never meet them. Then there are others that realize what the product is, enjoy it, and keep living their life without complaining about it.

I hear you, but I've eaten at one of the original stores in Alexandria VA and also in Nashville. They are quite different. I don't know enough about that business to explain why.

Why would a sign stating where they buy their potatos make you distrust them?

It's an affectation I could do without, especially when the fries are as soggy and greasy as theirs.

Soggy and greasy has nothing to do with who grows the potato. It's not soggy and greasy when the hoe pulls it from the ground or when it is in the bag on a pallet leaving the farm.

And the small potato farmer that supplies them is part of the success story. One small farm, a promise on both sides and a handshake. It should be posted because they should be recognized. No lawyers, contract, change orders, "including, but not limited to".

Your complaints are an affectation.

No, trying to create boutique potatoes is an affectation. This potato farmer a friend of yours?

I hope you mean another Johnnies because surely you are not talking about Johnny's, right?

This is what my dad says. I like the burgers, but i don't like my burgers to be a substitute for a salt lick either (many burger joints that get a lot of praise are WAYYYY too salty for my tastes).

IMO it blows Southside, Judice Inn, Brewbachers, et al. out of the water.

I'd rather eat crisco straight out of the tub than Dairy Barn
