Well it's not like they are being forced to do it, they are making a business decision. IMO it's a good decision, a minority of smokers can ruin the atmosphere for a majority of non-smokers. The same can't be said the other way around, smokers can always go outside, and perhaps that's why they've really upgraded their outdoor seating.

Dude, those reverse fans do a pretty good job at the 'Vous. It's not that bad most of the time. But as a former smoker, I hope smoking is no longer an issue at any bar in N.O.
Frankly, frick it, just ban smoking at all places open to the public for profit. The "freedom" thing is laughable, imo.
And Jake chews tobacco, so smoke is the least of his worries.

Yeah I don't smoke cancer sticks, but smoke filled bars feel like real bars. I love the character neighborhood dive bars have and don't care for the Mickey Mouse manufacture atmosphere you get at some of these other bars. Especially the bars with kids in them. If I want to drink beer with a bunch of kids Id go to Madagins, TJ's, Covington Chimes, or Old Rail brew pub.

It's not always an easy decision especially in NOLA. It was made easier for me because I have a music venue and the musicians are appreciative.
