Wanted to show a few pics of food and what not from our trip to San Antonio and Fredericksburg.
Started it off with Turnpike Troubadours at Whitewater Amphiteatre. They had just got 20-30ft of water there during a bad flood. Think most of the stuff was new.
I enjoyed the concert with this....
Stuffed quail from Boudros on the riverwalk. Although the riverwalk was not what I expected this food was pretty damn good.
The duck Schnitzel from Ottos. Pretty neat little German place. This was awesome. Only 3 guys working the kitchen including the Chef himself.
Garrison Brothers distillery. Very very good bourbon all done by hand and all grown on their on property either on site or just up the road except for barley which they get from Washington. Took the tour and they were bottling, the wife dipped and stamped a bottle.
Pedernales Cellars
No shittin.... This is Adolph. Ha
A local lager I drank at hondos on main after drinking wine all day.
don't want to post too much stuff. Overall this was a great trip. Very nice people and great food. San Antonio was a little lack luster, but hit up bluestar brewery and a couple of beer places that were cool. Fredericksburg was a pleasant surprise. Great little bed and breakfast to go along with great dining and atmosphere. Got on the William Chris wine club.... Had an old man originally from Ville Platte doing the tasting for us.
again, thanks to the people who gave me some great recs...

just curious, what did you expect of the riverwalk? ... i've been twice and think it's the most over-rated attraction in the country (2nd time was because of a party) ... wondering what people's perceptions are based on ads/friend's experiences/etc ...

I found San Antonio to be a very boring city as well. Riverwalk did nothing for me either.
Someone I went to school with got married a couple weeks ago and they drove to San Antonio for a 2-day honeymoon. Then drove from San Antonio to Destin for a beach vacation.
To each their own, I guess..

frickers got me for 2 bottles!
Black wax is the final and last run of their "springtime" bottling. It taste different than we they bottle in the fall....
The single barrel (silver wax) is #23 of #44 and is some good shite! I'm saying that and I have no idea how it taste b/c I tasted a different single barrel. They pride themselves on not having every run taste exactly the same and concentrate on letting the flavors of that run shine. They are about to bottle their best stuff yet. I missed it by 2 weeks. Talked with the head distiller and he said they received tons of help from the beam and makers guys.... They are a big reason where Garrison Bros is where it is. One of the biggest differences seem to be the thickness of the wood used in the barrels. The garrison bros barrels are much thicker and b/c of the heat they age quicker.

Fredericksburg is an awesome little town. For living so close, I don't get out there nearly enough. Hoping to make a weekend of it soon.

Was a little warm, but it was nice once the wind started up. Hammered some Lone Stars...
