1) Entry 8 -- Holy shitballs. Should easily be in the top 2 in everyone's list, IMO. I think this is one of our best entries ever.

It has incredible presentation, the only issue I have with it is the incorporation of the cucumbers.

They seem to be secondary. I know it is a pickled ginger substitute ala a sushi bar, but it seemed a bit forced.

But I would eat the hell out of it.

My vote:

quote:

1 - Entry 8 - Box Ribeye Sushi
2 - Entry 2 - Hamburgers
3 - Entry 5 - Ribeye on stuffed cucumbers with sauce

#8 gets first from me for the creativity and presentation. #2 and #5 get votes because I'm a sucker for fermented substances.

It's very nit-pick obviously as I voted it clearly number one.

On chopped they always find something to criticize for every dish

I would have to taste the cucmber salad, but the presentation and creativity is 10/10.

Nicely done.

Clear winner IMO.

Very difficult to vote this time.

1st is the sushi#8. The fruit "roll up" was very creative and the entire dish was well thought out. I would say the rice ratio looked a little high but still received my 1st vote.

2nd is the grape leaf#6. Looks like a well balanced dish. Love the wasabi hummus and cocktail tzatziki. Cucumber was under utilized. IMO

3rd this was the most difficult for me. The burger#2. Looked like the most work overall done by anyone. Burger looked delicious.

Everyone's dish looked great. Hate to leave anyone out of the top 3.

Congrats.

What's the thought on the steak tartare?

It was a lot of work with the sous vide, how did it taste?

The thing holding it back IMO is the presentation.

Nice job FB and awesome job to all the participants. Glad we had more entries this time to judge, learn from and salivate over. After reading over all the entries a couple times and pondering them, I found it tough to come to a top 3, but it had to be done. I settled on:

1 / entry # 8 - box ribeye sushi . super creative and not a clunky preparation or presentation. I bet that layering of flavors makes for a great bite of food.

2 / entry # 2 - burgers . the fermented salsa + wasabi mayo sounds fantastic on a burger and the execution really seemed on point.

3 / entry # 7 - steak frites . the glaze shoved this one into the top 3 for me. bet that had incredible flavor. perfect side to go with it too.

I think the new ingredient picking system worked. Having 3 ingredients picked and then everyone voting on the 4th will be here to stay.

I had to go through the pics etc... many times to choose. Everyone did a bang up job!!!

#1-7- because I want to eat that steak in the worst way. The fries were really creative as well.

#2-8-creativity and plating were awesome.

#3-4-this looked really tasty to me. Also appreciated the pink backdrop to hide any familiar scenery. Kudos.
