Heading to Austin for my first time and need to know if there are any must have beers to grab while I'm out there

Thirsty Planet Buckethead IPA-draft only
Jester King stuff....you should hit their tour on Saturday.
Austin Beer Works Fire Eagle IPA is pretty good and in cans.
The flagship Wholefoods on Lamar has a good local beer selection.

Hit Whip In and Draughthouse while yo're here to for best draft selections. Whip In sells bottles you can take with you too.

Copy that. We'll see if they last that long!

I've sampled Mexican Cake and its tasty. More peppery and less viscous than Hunahpu but otherwise similar. I've got one in the cellar and would like another..

- The Jester King tour is already in the plans. Just working out other things, but my friend I'm staying with should know most of the good places. I need to try some of the BBQ places too since I've always seen on TV how great they are...any suggestions for that?

Anyone, who has been in the emerald coast area, see some Mexican Cake still around? Heading that way Friday.

Franklins gets the hype but its packed...

La Barbecue is arguably as good or better. The guy running it used to be pitmaster at Franklins. The lines are much shorter.

First time trying it. Big beer for sure but I think I'm up for the challenge. I'm enjoying it

It smells absolutely wonderful, but I find it to be over the top bitter on the back end. I don't dislike it, but I enjoy the first half of the bottle much more than the second half.

FBD is a Westbrook IPA.

Canned on 6/25. Best one I've had yet. Fantastic.

This is my 4th bomber. rutiger and others love it, but it is too bitter for my tastes. I can appreciate it for what it is, but it does not bother me that this is my last bottle.

Definitely. They also have some in-house stuff that's pretty good. I didn't get to go to Draughthouse while I was there.. I wanted to but things didn't pan out as I planned them to.
