When the SO is away and you've got the afternoon to make a meal for yourself, what do you cook?

Hamburger mixed with bacon, on top of bacon with cheese on top of either Hawaiian bread or ciabatta rolls

What ever the hell I want. If she's here or gone, the answer is still pretty much the same.

And luckily she likes my cooking.

My wife doesn't eat real food (grilled chicken/salads) and neither does my kid, so just about every time I cook it's for myself. One of my favorites that they definitely don't eat is Veal Marsala.

Carbonara. The wife can't handle how rich it is, but when she is away I go to town.

I have a few.

Slow cooked trimmed brisket with meat heavy bbq beans and potato salad.

Rare ribeye with a fully loaded baked potato and a hit of chili powder.

Pot roast.

Extra meaty baby back ribs with my home made rub and bbq sauce, with golden mashed potatoes..and a hit of chili powder with devil'd eggs.

Like me some chicken and dumplings. If I want to eat a decent meal in this house, I have to cook it. She doesn't like this dish for some crazy reason.

I've got a weird one, but I crave it like a champ home alone. It's a bastardized version of a paleo beef and veggie bowl I saw a while back (I'm not paleo by any means, but it had everything I loved).

1 lb. ground meat (I alternate between chicken, turkey, pork, deer, and beef).
2 cups broccoli florets.
2 cups cauliflower florets.
1 onion.
3-5 cloves of garlic
I like heat like a mo fo, so 3-5 diced habaneros.
Can of rotel drained.
1/2 cup broth of your choice (I change based on meat).
Seasonings of your choice.

Caramelize onions, throw in garlic and peppers to soften at the end, remove. Brown meat. Throw onions, garlic, and peppers back in. Add broth. Throw in broccoli and cauliflower, cover, and cook until the broccoli and cauliflower is tender.

Serves a whole family, but I'll box it up and make 4-5 meals out of it for myself. It's about the best comfort food I know, it's quick if you buy the broccoli and cauliflower bags at Walmart, and it's supremely filling without being hellaciously bad for you.
