People on here dont believe me when I say the Indian here is not good. At least I have you and chetrabbit(sp?), actual people of indian descent, that agree with me.

Jamaican would work well in Baton Rouge. Lots of rice, beans, gravies/stews, flavor, and spice.

Korean BBQ.

Jewish Deli.

Peruvian Rotisserie.

I think a big problem in Baton Rouge is that not everyone is as open minded as the posters on this board when it comes to food. As such, when someone tries to open a spot introducing a new cuisine to the market, it can't be mediocre. It can't be as good as other options in town. It has to be BETTER than other options in town. Novelty alone won't do it, that's why some have failed.

As another fellow Indian, I have been preaching this forever.

Not "real Mexican" enough for you I guess? Well it's real Mexican enough for all of the actual Mexicans who eat there at all hours of the day. You must be the insufferable prick who wants to go out and eat Mole.

I made some spot on Jamaican jerk chicken tonight. I may open up a little chicken shack and play Bob Marley. Unite the races while I'm at it, mon.

As to the Tex-Mex question, if you think we have acceptable Tex-Mex in BR, take a trip to Houston.

Curious what you think is good Indian. Can you name a place somewhat nearby?

I can't.

Ok, then can you tell me where you have had good Indian food before. I am trying to figure out how you even know what good Indian food is and please don't tell me about your family (if you are Indian) or your neighbor because no restaurant is EVER going to compare to homemade. My own homemade Indian food is always better than the restaurants and I am self taught.

I see lots of actual Mexicans at Taco Bell. Just not persuaded by the "ethnic frequenting a place" idea

Bostonian: I want a pub that sells lobster rolls and chowdah

Korean BBQ: I've never tried it, and I want it.

Tapas: I saw Anthony Bordain go to a tapas bar. How it worked was every round of drinks you bought came with a round of tapas. It was a cool concept that was factored into your drinks. I would love to try such a place here.

Jewish Deli: I've heard rumors flying around about one opening downtown in the forseeable future, but I want a place that makes real kosher sandwiches with house made corned beef and pastrami on fresh baked rye bread. I want matza ball soup like maw maw used to make. I want gafilke fish, lox and bagels, latkes, and delicious brisket for all the goypaloi out there.

We also have La Reyna (Honduran) on Perkins, right when you cross over Siegen.

I wish we had a Cuban joint around here.

And you would think BR would have more Soul Food places around too.
