Going to Emeril's tomorrow night. Are slacks, dress shirt, and blazer/sports coat ok, or should I wear a tie?

Also, any menu recommendations?

It's pretty casual. You don't need a coat or tie, but you wouldn't be the only person there with one. But if you wore a t-shirt and jeans you wouldn't be the only person wearing that either.

Sadly, no restaurants really have a dress code anymore

Saw a dude a while back in khaki shorts and a PFG shirt smh

I've always been unsure of dress codes too, but when the Caribbean Room reopened an article said Galatoires and Caribbean Room are only places that *require* jackets for men. That's easy enough for me to remember.

That said, I like to wear jackets so for Commanders, Emerils, August, etc I go slacks, dress shirt, and jacket, but no tie.

I'm pretty sure you need to at least wear slacks if not a coat/blazer at Commanders for dinner.

It's pretty trashy, is it still a good place in Nola? Favorite saints jersey and shorts is fine

Unfortunately; I think Galatoire's is the only place that enforces a dress code.

The philistines have won.

I am hoping y'all are joking about Commanders. I haven't been in a couple of years but always was told that it was dress properly or hit the street. As a kid, I remember them having a rack of loaner jackets up front.

I had the opportunity as a sophomore at LSU to eat Lundi Gras brunch with the Brennan's at Commanders in the Garden Room so the restaurant holds a special place in my heart.

Nope, no jacket required at Commanders.
I'm thinking by next summer the Ponchatrain hotel restaurant will back off of their policy as well.

You'll be fine. The men I usually dine with there wear sports coats, but they're certainly not required.

What are people typically wearing to the Commander's Jazz Brunch?

I'm going with some folks from out of town on Sunday and all they've brought is jeans. I told them I wasn't sure that was a good idea.

At least khakis and a button down. I've seen some jeans and button downs, though.

food's still solid there IMO. Better than the crap fest across the street that seems to get love here.

And this here is the problem that our nice restaurants have. We are maybe one of the few cities that still seems to have at least decent concerns about dressing nice for a nice place.
I feel for the restaurants as they aren't going to want to turn down $$$ from tourist here who want a good meal.

I would never wear jeans to Commanders, no matter what meal, but especially not for Sunday brunch.
