Wasn't sure if this is FDB material or travel board, but wanted opinions of people who have been to Cancun area.
Headed there Sunday for 5 nights at the Dreams Playa Mujures resort.
I know not to drink the tap water obviously and I've heard that all the resorts are purified.
How about the ice?
anyone have any issues drinking mixed drinks at these resorts?
TIA

The ice won't give you the shits. It'll be the large quantity of alcohol and food that'll do it.

At a resort? You realize that most people there can't drink the water...you'll be fine with mixed drinks and ice. If you go off the resort, you may run some risk at a restaurant. I had a margarita off-site with ice and had no problems, and it wasn't some super nice place either, but more of a dive.

As long as you're not going to the Iberostar Paraiso del Mar.

All the water and ice at the AMResort chains (Dreams included) are filtered and fine to drink. I've been to 3 different Secrets resorts and never had an issue with anything other than blurred vision.

Somebody who has never had Montezuma apparently. Look at the ice makers. If they aren't pouring bottled water into them, drink beer.

If you payed a good amount for the resort, you should be fine. If you are drinking out of clear solo cups, you're probably fricked. Cipro and Immodium are your friends and are over the counter at any drug store and sold at most good resorts.

Should be good. I was concerned about this, but was fine when I stayed at excellence playa mujeres. I had "tap" water at dinner, which is just their filtered water. They use the same for ice.

You're an arse. I asked the same question when I went.

OP, I drank bottled water, but no problems with ice.

One thing I've done that you might consider: if you're on one of those all inclusive deals, tip the bartender before he starts mixing. You wouldn't believe the difference in alcohol amount they will pour in that glass. And it doesn't take much money, maybe a five. They remember you and from there on your stay will be much better. It won't take fifteen pina colatas like the guy that posted above.
