Alex Guarneschelli was just talking about the Shrimp Po-Boy at this place on "The Best Thing I Ever Ate" on the Cooking channel. Is it as good as hyped? I'm a little leery of some of these TV endorsements. Been to 2 places around the country that my wife has seen on these type shows and not been impressed. Domilise's, yay or nay?

I like Domilises shrimp poboy. I like Domilises atmosphere (hole n the wall) better. Get it without the red sauce they add to it.

You can get a better shrimp poboy within a single mile of domilise's.

For good reason.

Heat lamps don't help.

I probably ate at domilises twice a week for five years back in the 80s in college. Perfect hole in the wall atmosphere and a trout poboy with brown gravy/Barq's combo was all I wanted

have not been back in at least twenty years

The only thing I will eat there is the shrimp poboy, but beware -- it is very expensive and comes with a ketchup sauce on it (gross). Get it without the sauce. RIP Ms. Dot.

The roast beef poboy may be the worst in the city.

Doesn't come close to earning its reputation but the shrimp with gravy is alright.

Too much ketchup. Guy's is better if you can get there for lunch.

She's a big gal so Domilises and Guys shrimp is probably best she ever ate. Man she would spook a stick horse.

We are thinking about coming for the LSU/Bama game and will spend some time in NO before or after. Thanks for the insights.

(The "Favorite Hole in the Wall" thread was helpful, too)

It's overpriced and they put ketchup on it. Hell no, it isn't the best.

Nay. Walk on over to Guy's at the corner of Valmont and Magazine for a cheaper and far superior Poboy.

Agree that Guy's has the best shrimp poboy in that area.
