Do you waste expensive vodka in mixed drinks?

Actually, I've been drinking inexpensive Smirnoff Triple Distilled straight and it's not half bad. So why put the Ketel or Crystal Head in a Bloody Mary?

I win for the most uninteresting thread of the week!

Nope.

Once you hit a certain price point, vodka all pretty much is the same to me.
To put grey goose in a bloody mary or something like that is just a waste of money.

Nope. Just throw some Smirnoff in there. Especially if it's something like a Bloody Mary where the rest of the stuff you mix in there is providing the "taste".

Interesting article:

World's best vodka? It's anybody's guess

Seems there's not much difference between the cheapos and the really expensive stuff.

When I first started drinking vodka a couple of years ago, I thought it was Ketel One or nothing. Then when I realized that once you mix in 7-Up, root beer, bloody Mary mix, etc. all you get is the alcohol taste and Smirnoff is plenty good enough. I tried tito's, Ketel one, svedka, and keep going back to Smirnoff. It's a good go to Vodka for $20 a handle.

I'd say that's probably about right. And if I think about it, Vodka is probably the one drink I'm always drinking with something and never alone.

Did not mean it to come out that way, but I try not to drink alone either.

Even though Tequila is what tends to get me in trouble.

No. I actually prefer either Smirnoff or Titos more than the high $$$ brands. Even for my sipping vodka.

Smirnoff is good for mixing.
So's this...

5 times distilled, from Ireland of all places. Cheaper than Smirnoff. Bought it on the recommendation of the store owner and I think its great.

Ask any liquor store owner what they have in their freezer at home and the answer is Tito's.

Best vodka out there...15 bones for a fifth @ Sam's...can't beat it

I do too. I only drink Titos now and it's on ice with a couple olives. I actually like it better tha any other pricey vodkas.

The obvious point of the taste test is to prove that the differences go no deeper than the design of the bottle. We did a similar taste test with 4 brands a few years ago, same results, the correct answers were about the 25% range, same as blind guessing would produce.

I'm in pressed by people who buy the cheap stuff, shows they aren't a tool of the advertising.
