Do you own a fryer?

I thought about getting one but I'm not really sure what to look for
Would probably be used outside most of the time mainly for things like french fries, onion rings, and occasionally fried chicken maybe.
Any suggestions?

Those setups are nice but cleaning is a bitch and it takes alot of oil. I just use the Fry daddy for small jobs.

I will use the fry daddy outside for small jobs. Bigger jobs = dutch oven and plug-in induction burner.

Based on your needs, I would recommend a Fry Daddy. I used to have a larger fryer and used it for all the things you listed. It's much more inconvenient and requires more oil. I now have a Fry Daddy and its perfect for french fries, onion rings, etc.

I got this one a few months back. May be overkill for what you are looking for but it is a frying beast. So is the one Otis posted

I'd love a more legit one, but for now, I do my frying in this (sans basket).
I just use one of these instead of using a basket..
I plug it in on the patio table. I'll admit.. I have to do several batches most times, so if you're cooking for a group, you'll want larger/nicer.

Nice backyard
Definitely overkill for me. I have an outlet on the back porch and was going to plug in something to set up on an old table. I may even use it inside, I just don't like the idea of it making my house smell like grease.

Meh. The big ones require more oil initially but they also get a lot longer life out of the oil. I havnt used my fry daddy since I got the big one and don't see why I would. The big one is more way more convenient, imo

I have one like LL shows. I've never used the basket either. I use the same utensil she does or another one which is similar. I fry inside under the exhaust on the stovetop or grill.
For larger jobs, I use large cast iron fryers.
I may buy a larger fryer, but not like Mr. Balls has. I want a larger one for inside.

If I were to get one, I would look into a commercial countertop fryer.
Something like this:
10 lb. Electric Countertop Fryer - 120V
$119

I use a black iron duch oven with a fry basket on a burner. It holds a gallon of oil.
small electric fryers are good for one or two people but not much more than that because of the small amount of oil it holds.

I fry 4 or so times a year. Usually shrimp or when okra is coming in.
I got a DeLonghi for $100+ that was highly rated, but it crapped out after a few uses.
Went to Target and got a knockoff for $60. Has worked like a champ.
Those size units are only good to cook for 2 or so people.
Had a Fry Daddy many moons ago. It worked well too for small amounts.

Yeah this one. I forget the price but it wasn't expensive. It serves its purpose

I have the one Walt posted and a fry daddy. When I fry fish I use a gas fryer or cast iron because I throw the oil out after

I set the my Fry Daddy on the side shelf of the Webber Grill. Turn one burner on low on the grill to keep fish, fries, etc. warm while I fry up a few batches of whatever.

Get a small Waring
Perfect unless you are frying for a large group

Yes, they use a lot of oil, but you don't clean them each time, leave the oil in and keep it covered, you can cook with it dozens of times, do it all the time, change the oil out every couple months, then clean it once

Yep. The one gallon rig is great for jobs feeding a family or small groups.
