practice taking pics of your beers. That's half the craft beer drinking process right there.

Whats up with the jockamo?

It sucked. I don't think abita makes it anymore. Some people like wrought iron from abita but I think it tastes like dish water.

Try to drink local. If you want IPAs/APAs try Parish Envie, Great Rafts Commotion, Urban South Holy Roller. Those are pretty gateway. If you like those you can step up to a DIPA which Parish, Great Raft or Brightside.

Just watch out! There is no turning back! Your old beer will not taste good anymore, lol.
Try these Fresh, all should be available at the local grocery.
Devils Harvest
Commotion
Envie

Calandro's and Alexander's in Baton Rouge, Hokus Pokus in Prairieville, or any Rouse's typically have a good selection.

First thing you do is take a craft beer tour on the NOLA brew bus

Grab some Bell's Two Hearted Ale or Ballast Point Sculpin for some good IPAs that could be found on shelves.

I'm drinking Celebration right now. It's seasonal and I really like it. Torpedo is good too but I prefer Great Lakes Commodore Perry over that.

Drink it out of a glass to get the best experience. You'll get more aroma that way. The Celebration makes a nice head.

I wouldn't waste too much energy on craft beer. It started out as a nice genre. I would just drink the hard stuff if I had it to over.

Just start reading the FBD threads every day and you will get a lot of ideas of what beers everyone is enjoying.

Get some Hoegarden. Light Belgian wheat ale imported by AB. Kinda tastes like bug spray, in a good way :D

Parish Envie is great.

Love the flavor with smoked burgers. Goes good with smoked wings too.

The paycheck thing is no lie. This hobby, coupled with cigars and whiskey, is expensive.

Imagine if 4 packs cost 16.99 like they do in some states... People would flip

That's nothing, the new Grace and Grit from Great Raft will be 14.99-15.99 for 4 16oz cans. Still cheap by national standards but expensive to casual beer drinkers.

I'm a fan of NOLA but they really need to revisit mecha and even hopitoulas.

OP
Sounds like your friend has you in the right path.

Remember that all of it gets you drunk and it's really not about how much of a buzz you catch. That is a wonderful side effect to the flavor of the beverage.
