Keep in mind this place legally can only sell so much beer.

The limit on how much of their own beer they can produce is extremely high. (12,500 BBLS or 393,750 gallons).

For a point of reference Jester King (now legally classified as a brewpub in TX) can only produce 10,000 BBLs a year.

That's true, but does it matter about WHERE the beer is sold? I know places like NOLA can only sell like 10% of their product on site. Courtyard isn't going to be distributing off site, at least to my knowledge.

Yeah, I think this is the issue that the other poster was referencing.
It's not total sales that are truly limited, it's on-site sales.

Someone correct if wrong.

A production (distribution) brewery can only sell 10% of its product on-site. A brewpub (which I thought Courtyard was) cannot distribute their beer so all sales must be on site.

Yes that's what I was referring to. They are a nonobrewry. I'm no expert on dumb LA laws but that what I was told.

Right, nanobrewery. I dunno how that compares to being a brewpub. I'm not as familiar with the archaic BS of the LA distribution system, but I would think that would naturally bring about some sort of limitations. But if they are as high as what the other poster suggested, then they should have no issues. Jester King is pretty readily available, at least in the markets in which they distribute.

I'm under the impression they can distribute their beers, but didn't have the capital at the initial opening to do so yet.

The beer laws in Louisiana are backward as frick...

In Louisiana there are only two types of breweries.

1) 'Commercial Brewery'
- No limit on BBL/year brewed
- Allowed the privileged of having their beer distributed off site.
- Can only sell 10% by volume on site
- Can only sell their beer on-site
- Cannot have an on-site restaurant

2) 'Microbrewery'
- Limited to 12,500 BBL/year
- Cannot distribute beer bc Louisiana is backward as frick
- All beer must be sold on site

ETA: All this shite changes all the time and a LOT is at the discretion of the ATC, so there is no telling what the 'rules' are today.

I would think as a nanobrewery this would be part of their repertoire, but in limited quantities. I'm not sure what their full capacity is.

Well, based on the responses to this thread, I think it's worth stopping by to have a beer or two and get my growler filled. Then I will find elsewhere to park my arse for the games.

Which I don't understand, because ATC is the most well run and least incompetent state agency.

Holy crap. Half the places in Portland would be illegal under these rules. Deschutes Brewpub wouldn't exist, and I think it is one of the highest volume brewpubs in the country.

Are these laws driven by BMC and distribution lobbyists?
