The best bar in the state because it's in BATON ROUGE, right bob right???
Not even remotely. I never say Baton Rouge is better than New Orleans. New Orleans is the king of small cities and a jewel of the South. I just say that Baton Rouge is better than most people say it is because, while it deserves bashing (shitty traffic, deplorable public schools, & high crime; all issues in New Orleans as well) it doesn't deserve the frequency of hate it often receives here and on the OT. It's marginally better than that
Baton Rouge's greatest weakness is being so close (yet so far) from 2 great cities that each provide better what Baton Rouge tries to be. Lafayette is the model for what a small city should be. New Orleans provides the perfect combination of amenities for a large city. Baton Rouge is essentially a platypus, it tries to be both a beaver and a duck while not really accomplishing either of those things that well. Lafayette is smaller and much wealthier per capita. New Orleans is larger and is a tourism hub with a long history of being a "big" city.
I guess I cheer on BR because I have seen how far it's come. Being here in the late 90's and early 2000s were dark times. The city was so much shittier then, so now that I see how much less shitty it is, it makes me want to share that marginal reduction in shittiness with others who haven't been back due to how unbelievably depressingly shitty it was before. Now, it's just mediocre. PROGRESS!!!!

Also, I like CBD and have brought a couple of dates there. One liked trying new beers and the other (whom I'm still seeing) is a big beer snob.. so you can bring women to CBD, just be sure they are into trying beers.

I'm hoping to hit that place up some time soon. I want to do a trip starting in Savannah that goes up to Charleston, then Charlotte, and then end up in Ashville. I've never been to that region of the country as its one of the few blank spaces left on the map.

Asheville is fantastic. Savannah will likely be a future road trip for me and the wife.

I think most craft beer bars offer wine and cider, which appeal to non beer drinkers.
Craft beer drinkers I think that the average craft beer drinker has a higher income than BMC drinkers. Upscale beer. In my experience, the average craft beer bar is safer than the bars that serve cheap draft. Both of these will attract more women.

Not necessarily. Most "bar women" go to bars to dance and hookup. Craft beer bars are too laid back for that. Craft beers are great for professional women (25-35) who want to relax with a couple drinks after work. The model works fairly well for that. I think that's one of the reasons Pint Night at the Bulldog has such a female heavy crowd. I mean, seriously, last time I went there, the place looked like a scene from McClaren's in "How I Met Your Mother".

Definitely not. And without any liquor, I don't know many females I could convince to go with me.
Lucky for me.. I have no female friends who ever want to hang out anyway, so it works out
theyve got wine for the wives/girlfriends.

IMO.. Bulldog has a female crowd because they bump loud music, have dim lighting, have good decor/atmosphere, and have a full bar. Plus, the reputation from New Orleans when they arrived. The place is laid back to a certain extent (it isn't Fred's), but it isn't anywhere near the beer-centric type of place that CBD is. And it is only getting farther away from that--as I'm sure you've noticed if you've been lately that they are pushing their "specialty cocktails" and (per the article the other day) pushing their food.
While Bulldog has a better beer selection than many "regular" bars, the big crowds on pint night aren't drinking any more craft beer than the people on other nights. I've been told they sell more BMC than every other craft beer on the wall combined.
It is difficult to classify Bulldog as the same as CBD because they really aren't anything alike. Hell, my best friend (that works at BD) won't come with me to CBD because he said it's boring and there's no arse there. People just value different qualities in a bar. I don't value what BD on a Wednesday/Friday/Saturday offers anymore because I'm slowing down lately, so CBD has become my spot. But I have girlfriends that I'd have to take elsewhere because they drink vodka/mixed drinks and prefer music playing and getting tipsy

It all comes down to what you are looking for when you go out to a bar. Are you looking to dance? Are you trying to get laid? Are you looking to "rage" and get f*&ked up?
Most people going to beer bars don't want to do any of these things. They usually just want to relax. They're not there to get laid or out of control. They're there to chill out and enjoy the ambiance and conversation. So the crowd you are going to get is the crowd that desires that experience in a bar setting.
Most women who want that experience tend to do that at a restaurant with a patio or at home with a bottle of wine. These beer bars, however, are getting far better at attracting that demographic and I applaud their efforts.

This beer thread had great potential to devolve into another classic shite show, but you guys TL;DR'd the hell out of it. Damn.

I'll try to get it back on track. The bartenders should wear skimpy bikinis and women should get a free beer once an hour.
