I think the jury is still out on the laffy location.

I had a friend tell me he and his wife were sitting in their bar having drinks and watching the LSU-Ole Miss game, only to have them change the channel to the Stanford game because apparently the arse. Manager was a big fan of Stanford. He said he had words with the manager, going so far as to tell him they will not make it pulling crap like that. He said the manager did agree and corrected the situation.

It's not overpriced at least not the menus I've seen. I don't think there was an entree over $25, which is a steal for the quality of the cooking. Compare that to French Press where, the last time I went, every entree was approaching $40. THAT is over priced.

I pass in front all the time and the parking lot always seems full. I've only been for lunch though.

I've been twice and had a great experience both times.

Several people I've talked to about Cochon say they thought it was overpriced. I didn't think so.

Nice place. I wish them success.

Had a late lunch there today with a friend and asked him what he thought about the restaurants prospects. He thinks the "it's overpriced" comments are more reflective of the smaller portions and that people are more concerned with quantity. I can see that being a valid point, but I'm not a fatty and portion size isn't an issue for me. The fact that there wasn't an entree over $25 the night I had dinner there makes me think there might be something to the portion size issue, because that is cheap for the quality of food they are putting out.

People in the south want to be fed. Regardless of the execution and quality of ingredients the kitchen uses. We are a culture of fatasses. Sad, but true.

it is doing fine and if for some strange reason it doesn't, then he can take a hit. Even a big one.

I have never been to Lafayette location, been to all three places several times in NOLA. Excellent product and service. I have heard that Lafy is not doing what they expected, but no person with any business sense will "take a hit" for any length of time with that huge nut they have over there. I'm sure they will be fine, probably need to advertise and tweak menu portions and prices to overcome bad word of mouth and perception (if it does really exist).

I found a recipe online for Cochon's pork, blackeyed pea, and greens gumbo. It came out awesome. I'll post it if anyone is interested.

I'd like to find some pork cheeks to cook at home. Anyone have an idea where I might find some?

Yep. You really have a hard time convincing people that a plate full of ok food is not better than half a plate of great food.
