It will open. Talked to owner last week. Unfortunately for the FDB, he was unable to provide an exact date.

this place sounds delicious. Will there be a TD discount?

Great first day product. They were slammed and a little slow but that is to be expected. The pickles were awesome.

A little more info would be nice.

What kind of pickles? I'm looking for good bread and butter pickles preferably in a huge jar.

It would be nice to see what types of pate they plan to serve as there is not just one.

Sorry, I was on my phone so couldn't really go indepth.
They had a limited menu. There were 5 sandwich to pick from: Cubano, New Yorker, Club, Big Pig, and a BLT.
I split a Big Pig and Cubano with someone else in our group.
The Cubano has excellent bread which really made the whole deal. The meat was tender and flavorful. The sandwich had dijon on it which worried me a little at first because sometimes that can overpower the whole meal but this wasn't bad. I'm not if it was because of the quantity of Dijon or if their recipe just doesn't have a lot of kick. The sandwich could of been a touch warmer on temperature wise.. but that is just my personal preference. Overall the sandwich was built around the meat which is what it is intended to be.
The Big Pig has pulled pork on it and was the same way.. Great bread... it has coleslaw but it wsan't overpowering... it focused on the meat which was excellent.
They had a side of house made chips and pickles. The chips had a great flavor..I think they made a big batch so they likely had time to sit around and cool off... in think on a normal day when they don't make a large inventory they are going to be top notch.
The pickles are thin sliced and sweet. If you like that style of pickle you will love them. I would love to have an option with a bit of a spice kick on the pickle... but I dont know if that is possible.
When we first got there it was about 3/4th full with 10 people in line or so. by the time we left it was completely full with a line out of the door... but it didn't really seem like people were standing around waiting on a table.. Parking is always a question over there... They have parking across the street which was a little tight when we left... but on a normal day there won't be an issue.
Overall it a great addition to the area.
Also I picked up a duck confit for tonight. I will report back after dinner.
ETA: someone else in our group had the Club. The report was the turkey was a great smoke flavor and very moist. again... focused on the meat.

Went and picked up a sandwich to go today. Grabbed a Cubano. It was delicious and the house made truffle chips were equally good. Can't wait to go back and sample some of the charcuterie and grab some meats from the deli. This is a great addition to the BR food scene.

came back to say I have company tonight so the confit will have to sit for another night.

I tried to go tonight, but when I walked in at about 7:45, they were closed because they were out of pork and all bread. The guys I'm guessing were the owners looked beatdown, sounded like they had a great first day. I was bummed I didn't get to sample their wares, but will hopefully get to check em out tomorrow.

They were pretty overwhelmed with the number of people today and seemed to be working their asses off.

Had a sammich from there today. Spent a ton of money on T-shirts and fridge food. All good.

Mrs. Ruzil and I stopped in to City Pork tonight to check it out and get a quick sandwhich. I like the looks of this place, it reminds me of Cochon Butcher minus the small bar. We arrived about 645 and placed our order. We both ordered a cup of their chicken duck and andoille gumbo, I got a cubano and the wife got the blue cheese wedge salad.
I thought the cubano sandwich was very good, I especially enjoyed the bread which pressed and toasted perfectly for my tastes. My wife enjoyed her wedge salad.
We both enjoyed the gumbo which was a little thinner than the usual around town, but this thinner gumbo is what I like. My only criticism about the gumbo was that the chicken in it was a bit stringy. I like to cut the chicken in smaller pieces and add it later after the gumbo simmers a bit. The wife was fine with the chicken so what do I know.
We ordered a Big Pig sandwich to go for the little Ruzil and some gumbo. He really liked the Big Pig and agreed to give me a taste of it for the integrity of my review. I think I liked this better than the cubano, chopped pork and cole slaw with a tangy sauce on a hamburger like bun.
I was really impressed with City Pork, especially the quality of the food and service after only 4 days in operation. We had a chance to talk with one of the owners who came over to our table to sincerely find out if we enjoyed our meal. He said that they have plans for a happy hour charcuterie special in the near future that I look forward to trying out.
When in New Orleans, I always hit up Cochon Butcher on each trip. I hope City Pork stays around, it may save me a few road trips.
