Better start that brisket on Saturday night if it's got any weight to it! I would suggest a butt for your first time out of the gates as it's way more forgiving. Brisket is a bit more sensitive to get right.

If you go with the WSM, keep in mind that the larger one will take lots more fuel to run. Also when looking at seasoning, read this review on Amazon by Harry Soo (who competes with WSM in bbq contests and wins) he tells you how he seasons his.

I dont know if you cant fit as much on the primo as the WSM but this is how I fit 6 racks of loin baby back....the big ones sams sells. Also 2 7-8lb butts...could definitely fit more butts.

And I use this to set it and forget it. Did those butts for 16hrs at 230 and used about 1/2 the lump I packed in there.

Yeah I may do a butt to start. Plus I can't find any place that carries the 22", so I will have to order and wait for delivery. Kind of sucks because I was hoping to have this thing running for the weekend.

The BBQ Guru Eyelet is installed on my WSM and the grommet mod is installed on my Smoky Joe Mini Project. Had I known about the grommet mod before the eyelet mod, I would have opted for that one, instead. It offers more space for probes to fit through.
The pottery plate is a 14" or 12" terra cotta plate, wrapped in foil and set in the top of the water bowl. It creates a heat sink similar to what water would do, only it doesn't eat up your fuel like water will. It is the clay plate that would go under a clay pot (terra cotta color).
The door and lid seals can be fouond here WSM Gaskets. I have not opted for the staineless steel doors as mine just works fine with little temperature flucuations and smoke leak. I'll get to the seals soon, and will report back.

How did you drill through the side of your WSM, step bit?

Scratch my last post. Ace Hardware just said they can have one in by Thursday for me. So maybe I will be working the butt this Sunday. I will order that thermometer as well, but will have to stick with my current one in the meantime.

I love my CyberQ. Are you using it strictly while on your home network, or have you ventured into temp control while away from home?

step bit and painters tape for the win!

If you don't own one and don't have a lot of uses for it, Harbor Freight Tools sells them very cheap.

I didn't do the mod with the grommet, but instead saw on the Virtual Bullet, someone used a cutting wheel and made a small notch where the lid comes down, it works really well.

Saw that one as well, Kingwood. I just felt more comfortable drilling a hole then freehanding a notch cut.

I was the same way, but it was really easy with a cutoff wheel on a dremel tool. Just put some blue tape (for painting) on it and cut away. Both ways are good though.

The eyelet from BBQ Guru is used where one of the existing grate supports is located so there is no modding the WSM. The grommet mod requires the use of a step bit and painters tape.

I plan on making a permanent hole in the bottom of my WSM, Weber Kettle and Mini to mount the fan, depending on which cooker I am using, for my auto temp controller (CyberQ) and the step bit is perfect for that. The mounting holes are capped off with a silicone cover when not in use.

Not accepted.

If you don't have something to contribute to the best burgers, "is Red Lobster good?" or chains in Baton Rouge, you should leave now.

I have not yet....currently im waiting on my house to be built and staying with the parents...my dad doesn't want me messing up his router trying to get it to work lol. I'll just wait and hook it up to my own home network....
