Since it's near to the house, I've given Wakin' Bakin a try 3 times. I just don't think it's very good. Bland and underwhelming.

I do really like Biscuits and Buns though.

Clover Grill for some good greasy diner food. Luke is owned by a former Marine who I served with during Desert Storm...good dude.

For a few years now, he invites all current & former Marines to Luke on the Marine Corps Birthday and treats us like kings for the day. Here's a write up USAA did on him a few months ago. LINK

Another vote for the Ruby Slipper. Four locations now, my favorite is on Cortez - right behind Manale's on Canal. They just opened up one on Canal about three blocks from the Saenger towards the river..
