I think I was just trying to rustle someone feathers with that comment but if I was a dog I would prefer the park over a bar

If you asked the dog I'm sure they would say the park but being at the bar still beats being home alone.

The real winner is to take them to the park, then to the bar.

Portland is just about the most dog friendly city I've ever been to

San Diego, too! But in my experience they were all well behaved and the owners were good about picking up.

There were doggie bag dispensers on every other lamppost. . .

After running in the park my dogs are either a sweaty mess and smell awful or they are wet from getting a bath.

I would not inflict either of those upon anyone. Unless they were drinking Jackamo; then wet dog would be an aroma upgrade.

If they are drinking Jockamo, then their opinion and rights are worthless anyway.

I've seen people with dogs on the patio at the Chimes East. Waiter even brought it to-go box for a water bowl.

Bistro Byronz will let you take your dog on the patio.........................for brunch. Not sure about lunch or dinner.

I might be wrong but I feel that people who bring their pets to bars have some sort of separation issue with their pets. If you want to take your dog out in public, there are many fine parks to go to rather than a bar\restaurant

If you are bringing your dog with you everywhere you go that's too much.

I'll bring my dog with me to a bar/ restaurant every once in a while, but it's usually because he has been home alone all day so he enjoys getting out for an hour or two and having people give him attention. It also saves me from having to walk him afterwards if I plan on having a couple drinks

Chicago is extremely dog-friendly though, with almost every restaurant in my neighborhood having dog-friendly patios

So inconvenience others because you are too lazy to walk your dog

Or just kill two birds with one stone. If you don't like dogs, don't go to a place that allows them.

Same with smoking, in my opinion.

I usually don't go to restaurants worried about other people.

There's perfectly good seating for people like you inside. If someone is sitting on a patio next to a busy sidewalk, I really doubt that someone with a dog minding it's own business is going to be a terrible inconvenience
