Bought royal red shrimp Sunday in perdido - need advice ASAP

Just peeled and butterflied. The shrimp have a strong shrimp smell. They don't smell bad but just stronger than what I have smelled before
They have been in the fridge since Monday and on ice in ice chest on Sunday
Is this ok to eat? Just curious of royal reds smell stronger?
Also when I butterflied them, each one had bad "beef curtains" hanging on each side Of the butterfly cut
Are Royal reds that different?

Almost all royal reds are frozen usually on the boats via IQF. The shrimpnyou bought were they frozen until earlier today or had they been defrosted when you purchased them?

Should be fine, but for legal reasons, it's your call

Mother in law bought them from seafood place in perdido. Heads off.
Most likely frozen. SO is preggo.
She just had a crazy hunger wave so I went to CFL. I am looking at the shrimp and most of the shrimp are white minus a few. The ones that aren't white in the vein line are pinkish color but those are probably the ones with the thick orange vein substance. I put them in ice water directly after peeling so I can't really tell if they were slimy bc the texture changed naturally. I didn't notice any slime when I was peeling them. They were easy to peel though.
Royal reds might be different though which is why I'm asking. Prolly just not take the chance since these were prolly frozen and I waited 4 days. I mean the shrimp smell was strong but not in a bad way.

Do they smell after they are cleaned and you've removed the heads and peels out of the way. My Royal Reds always smelled pretty bad after thawed, but once I cleaned them and took heads and peels outside, there was zero smell. They smell because they are frozen on boat, so they are not cleaned very well.

always buy seafood in that area at Joe Pattis in PNS,an amazing place, more seafood at one place you'll ever see outside of Seattle,NYC or Tokyo. Royal reds are IQF on the boat as they are caught a long way out in deep deep water. Beware of the reds from Argentina, South America, they are not the same thing. My experience has been that the seafood mkts from Gulf Shores thru Perdido sell them for about $14/lb most head on and the Publix sells the ones from SA,much smaller and yes much more fishy smelling. Joe Pattis had them headless,IOF for $7.39? last summer.

They best place I found down here (I'm down here this weekend) is on county 10, off hwy 59. You drive about 3 miles to no where and finally find a dock on the intercostal. They were around $5-6 a pound. They wholesale to the restaurants in the area.

I wouldn't give them to the SO, but unless you smell a bleachy type smell, they're probably okay. I wouldn't eat them that old, though.

Royal reds always smell a little shrimpy. boil/steam them and peel, dipping in drawn butter. Sometimes I add Old Bay.
As far as a pregnant wife, she should avoid since they are deep water shrimp and probably high in mercury
