I manage La Petite Grocery, I was literally interviewing this server who worked at Stella for over 5 years, I offered him the job and he accepted. He said he was gonna go put his 2 week notice in and I said of course, I would expect the same. I went to give him his new hire paperwork and he told me he had just received a text saying he wouldn't be working that night that they were shutting down and he could start ASAP.

Many restaurants do not give notice

Dont want servers stealing or quitting on spot

Hope he started right away. That rabbit with spaetzle, turtle and lamb are my very favorite.

Tickets are $200 in advance and $250 at the door.

What a douche. If I was an employee of his, I would be looking for a new job ASAP.

The place I broke in at closed down in a similar fashion to Stella, blows my mind someone could be shady enough to steal from employees

If it can be proven that he was stealing tips, etc. do you think there's a chance that criminal charges can be filed?

This whole thing reminds me of how Bo$well was/is the only person I've ever heard of that charges $25 just to apply for a job!!

i tried the sharkfin soup back in 07 because i was curious. it was terrible. tasted like that clear soup they give you at some japanese restaurants, but if that soup had gone bad or spoiled.

why do you think he stole tips from his watiers?

Not a clue as to why he would stoop so low.

I can only hope that his wife cheated with the employees from time to time - in a non-financial fashion, of course.

It's not just the hourly rate at Stella it's also the tip $$$. All of their credit card tips where put on their paycheck as well as their hourly rate. So he is basically stealing tips that guest left to him and not paying him real shitty.

The whole fundraising deal is bizarre.

The allegation that he stole tips from his employees is a strong one. How is putting ALL of their credit card tips stealing the tips from the employees?

I've talked to several former employees of Stella and Stanley well before this incident/fiasco. Not one has said anything remotely good about Boswell or his operations

A former employee made a few comments on nola.com:

"YES!! JUSTICE!! I am so happy to hear this! I've been waiting patiently for this day!

I worked at Stella in 2010, Scott Boswell is a scumbag in every sense of the word. He's an egomaniac, a tyrant, and a shady, thieving mother****er.

He wouldn't pay his management a decent wage, instead supplementing their salaries by making the servers tip out the managers, which is ILLEGAL. This plus too many other labor violations to list here.

He was a horrible person and horrible to work for. I am tickled pink to hear of his bankruptcy and failure. Couldn't have happened to a more deserving guy.

I'm not at all surprised he neglected to pay the final paychecks he promised, nor am I surprised that he neglected to inform his employees that they were about to be out of a job. I am so happy to see that karma is alive and well!

What goes around comes around, you greedy, narcissistic scumbag! I hope the employees he stiffed file a lawsuit against him and he loses everything, including Stanley!"

"I forgot to mention, that while he was underpaying his managers and forcing his servers to illegally tip out managers, he was also keeping 3% of the server's credit card tips "to cover the cost of credit card transactions."

So let's say I made a $100 tip, he would only give me $97 of it. Doesn't sound like much, but 3% every day, every week, every month adds up.

All of this while he's driving a Ferrari! Scumbag!"

"He was also an abusive tyrant. I saw him scream at and curse out managers and other employees IN FRONT OF GUESTS way too many times, which was ultimately one of the main reasons I left.

I could go on and on about what an awful human being he is!"

I think it's safe to say he won't be attending the save Stanley party.

Not unless he arrives with a weapon. That guy is some angry. I read other comments in the article and they're not too positive. For the record, I'm not grisgris9.

Looks like the wife got a bow-wrapped Porsche as a Christmas gift a few years ago.

Must be nice to have a Ferrari for the racing track, and then come home to the Porsche for everyday pursuits!
