Going to Boston just before thanksgiving for a few days. Anyone got any good recommendations? Any can't miss attractions while I am there (besides all the historic places and probably Sam Adams tour)?

Probably staying in the Back Bay area but we'll be exploring all around the city so recs anywhere are welcome.

SO's bday is one of the nights we are there so I'm looking for at least 1 "special" or fine-dining type place. Looking for recs now so that I can make a reservation. Most of the rest will probably be pretty casual, but definitely want to find some decent places.

TIA

Any Italian restaurant in the north end

Get a cannoli from the famous place in the north end. The name escapes me.

Museum of Science, if that's your thing

Duck tours.

Union Oyster House. It's the oldest restaurant in Boston and has the best clam chowder I've ever eaten. If I ever go back I might order 2 bowls.

Do a search on this topic,, many threads on restaurants in Boston. I'll recc the Union Oyster House, before many say that it is a tourist place, maybe so, but great food, great atmosphere and what's wrong with eating at (The Oldest Restaurant in America) while you're in Bahhhstun? Not a dayum thing.,
Eta: didn't see ur's, sw. It's true,,,, oh, btw, oldest in Murika!!

This...

"If you want a seat at the oystah bah, talk to the oystah guys..."

Edit: Also, if you're an LSU fan, can't miss the Baseball Tavern next to Fenway, especially if you're in Boston for a football game...

Yessss!

The two best cannoli places are in walking distance from Neptune. Modern Pastry and Mike's Pasty are a couple of blocks away.

Was in Back Bay a couple months ago. Loved it.

I ate at Atlantic Seafood Co., Abe & Louie's, Pour House, Dolce Vita, Little Steve's Pizza, Mike's Cannoli and some asian joint on Boylston.

Can't say enough about Boston. Definitely going back.

Rino's Place
Regina Pizza
Giacomos
Straga
Artu's
Mikes Pastry's

Get some Boston Brick Red beer, it's by Sam Adams and can only be bought on draft in Boston. In know for sure Beantown Pub and Bell in the Hand Tavern has it. Try 21st amendment bar too, you'll be surprised where it's built and it's unique story.

I got to Boston a good bit, trust me on these. Avoid legal seafoods, McCormick and Schmitz type places. Go places the locals like. As them, they'll tell you good places.

Enjoy

Very nice. Boston is probably my favorite city in the United States.

-Mike and Patty's is tucked away in the neighborhoods close to Boylston and Beacon Hill. I definitely recommend checking it out. LINK
-The Paramount is great for breakfast. The lines can be very long. It's in the Beacon Hill neighborhood on Charles Street. LINK
-The Tip Tap Room is a great beer bar
-Jim Curley in Boston is another great craft beer bar with excellent food. It's right off the Boston Common close to the Old State House LINK
-Obviously, the North End is great for Italian. But, do your research. Some are much better than the others.
-If you go to Old Union Oyster House, grab a beer right across at The Bell in Hand Tavern
-Grab a drink at the Taj Boston hotel. The bar offers a great view of the Public Garden.
-If your girl is into fashion and shopping, take her to Newbury Street.

ETA: Make sure and go to Cambridge as well. Walk around Harvard and Harvard Square. Just watching the local universities row along the Charles River is really cool. They have some great restaurants as well. Hungry Mother, Mr. Bartley's, Middle East Restaurant (that's the actual name) are all very good.

Google the Lost Dog pub, it's a pizza/Italian joint that has been around for quite some time. They have two location for doing business. The first is in Boston and the second down in the tropics.

This. Neptune Oyster. Avoid the ACME tourist trap.

The hot lobster roll was one of the best meals I've had

You can just wander around and pick a random place (there are hundreds) and won't be disappointed.
