What is your favorite way to boil shrimp? Looking for what you add to your water and type of shrimp boil you use.

i always put a lot
squeeze a few lemons
maybe some cayenne

bring to rolling boil
throw shrimp in
cut heat immediately
they should start floating
dump ice or these large frozen blocks i have in the freezer in the pot
taste after 15-20
let sit more until i think they are properly spiced

Pretty darn close to what I do. I also like to add a few sticks of butter. Theoretically it helps them come out the shell. Prob doesn't help, but makes me feel better!

I use a 3/1 mix of water and white vinegar...barely enough to cover the shrimp. To the liquid, add some fresh garlic, liquid crab boil, and your favorite dry seasoning. Lemon juice or lemon slices are good, too. Bring to a simmer for 5 minutes . Taste and reseason heavily...get it spicy.

Bring to a rolling boil. Add the shrimp and stir a few times, over high heat, until all shrimp have just turned pink. When so, cut the fire and add ice to stop the cooking. Let soak 5 minutes or more, until they taste right to you.

They are almost cooked from the steam coming from the pot. Your method is basically the bible.

Ive heard people say this but do you have a link on why this theoretically should help?

Same thing has been said about crawfish. I can't imagine that adding a dairy product does anything to facilitate easy peeling. It is all about not undercooking or overcooking. Both lead to hard to peel crustaceans.

Overseason the water. When you think it's too much, add more. Don't boil them. They will be cooked quickly after they hit the boiling water. Cut the heat off and ice like Jones says.

This

Also sometimes the shrimp you get are softshells and will be a pain in the arse regardless.

I don't boil to a set time, I watch them like a hawk and when I see air pockets form between the shell and the meat I cut the heat and a bottle that is filled with ice to bring the temp down. I boil shrimp probably 3-4 times a month, we eat it alot as a quick meal.

powder boil (not pro boil)
liquid boil
cayenne if you like
kosher salt if you like
lemons
onions
cajun power garlic juice (dont overdo)
bring water to boil, add shrimp
bring back to a boil, 60 seconds then shut off fire
