Hi y'all, it's been a while since I've lived in nola. What are some great restaurants downtown? Also, best Cajun ones? I will be there for a conference and have to take customers out.

TIA!

GW Finn's and Peche for Seafood.

Finns is more expensive than Peche.

Cajun food? What's that?

August followed by GWFinns, Pelican Club and Doris Metropolitan.
Cochon or K-Paul's for Cajun.

Any thoughts on

Galatoires/ arnauds/ emerils/ mr b/ Brennan's/ commanders

I've been to emerils, mr bs, Brennan's, and commanders. Thinking about commanders bc it's an institution. Any opinions on those places?

I've read some great things about restaurant rebirth as well

Commander's is worth the money.

Brennan's is not.

Depending on the customers I would also think about proximity to a nice bar for drinks before or after.

Ideally a restaurant with a nice bar inside.
I really like the bars in Peche and Meril, not fancy but I enjoy them. Plenty of places have great bars that may specialize in different wine/cocktails/beer.

Edit: Want to add that I agree with the below poster. Brennan's is better now than in years past.

Brennan's is great and out of towners will love it. They have new ownership as of ~2014 and it's essentially a different restaurant.

Are you customers from LA?

For Cajun, agree with Glass on Cochon and Bon Ton. Also agree on K-Paul's, though it's not downtown.

Bon Ton is not open on Sat/Sun FYI. No reservations for lunch, but you can get them at night. A few blocks away is Windsor Court which has a nice bar if you're looking for that. Actually, there are two bars, one downstairs and one upstairs.

I love Peche. If you haven't been, you and your customers may enjoy it. It's very casual, but the food is excellent. It's now one of my favorite places.

The Commander's experience is great and it's a good place for folks to take off their bucket list or be able to say they've been there. It will be enjoyed.

I've enjoyed every meal I've had at Emeril's. It's usually hopping and the food is very good. The table in the kitchen is fun if that's something y'all would enjoy.

I thought Brennan's was okay, but I've only been once since it reopened and that was for brunch. No one in my party left very impressed. We weren't crazy about the offerings. It's on my list to try again for dinner sometime.

I've loved every meal at R'evolution. Nice bar and food was delicious. It has the most comfortable chairs in the city. It's not downtown, but with Uber, it should be fine.
