I'm coming over from Australia for 2 nights to visit and watch LSU play the gators 16-18th October. I have no idea on where to stay in Baton Rogue. So I Was looking for advice on a good place to stay for 4 boys in there 20's. Ideally close to food and bars and close enough to stadium where travel to and from tiger stadium wont be an issue. Also what are the best travel options on game day?
Thanks for your help

There's also a Hampton Inn downtown. Not as nice as Indigo or the Hilton, but solid. There's a shuttle to and from campus on game days.

Solid recommendation. Also, there is a new, not your typical, Hampton Inn that is located downtown as well.
If wanting to be closer, there is a Staybridge Suites right next to Walk-Ons and Tiger Stadium that will probably command rate.
If you don't mind a drive and are watchful of your money, a hotel booked on Siegen Lane and/or I-10 in Gonzales (think Hampton Inn or Marriott branded hotel) are all relatively new and should be less expensive the further out you are.

Downtown or Renaissance (use uber).

Renaissance has the nicest rooms in Baton Rouge and pretty good food.
No such thing.
See above. It is a clusterfrick.

Hotel Indigo
One of the loudest hotels I have ever stayed in.

Renaissance on Bluebonnet or Hilton downtown. Not much to do around the Renaissance. Hilton gives you more options for bars before/after game. I've stayed at both and I like the Renaissance a little more.

There are several downtown hotels: there's a hotel at the Belle of Baton Rouge Casino, the Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center, the Hotel Indigo, the Hampton Inn and a Holiday Inn Express that should be open in a month. All are pretty decent properties (I put my in-laws up in the Hilton). There are a few good bars and restaurants downtown, and it's a short Uber ride to LSU and other places to party.
For the past few years, the downtown hotels have teamed up to offer game day shuttles to Tiger Stadium. They haven't announced plans for 2015, but I have to figure they wouldn't eliminate them. The shuttles are like $5-$10 round trip. Sometimes they pick up at individual hotels, sometime they just pick up people at one central location. If you stay at a downtown hotel, they will give you the details at the front desk. I think you can even buy the shuttle tickets right at the Indigo and the Hilton. (Of course, they probably sell the tickets at the other downtown hotels too)

Stay at Lauberge not the belle if you are going the casino hotel route.

Nice rooms. Best bathrooms in town.

Did they do away with the gameday transit from downtown? That makes travel to campus easy.
Downtown just limits easy access to Tigerland, but if you are mid 20's you shouldn't be there anyway.

350 a night you can stay in my extra room... think of it as a BnB....

I'd stay at Hilton Downtown. Live After Five music on Friday night downtown, with plenty of places to eat and drink. Shuttles can take you to campus for the game.

Thanks for the advice, I've done some research and pretty much everywhere is booked out in downtown unless I was looking to pay a thousand dollars (way out of the ball park) how is corporate boulevarde area is that too far away from things and relatively nice?

Corporate is a good area. Lots of hotels and good bars there. Corporate Brew and Draft is probably the best beer bar in town and nearby is the Lock & Key Whiskey Bar that a couple of close friends own.
Corporate is not too far from campus and it's a straight shot to LSU. I think some of the hotels there have game day shuttles, like the Marriott. Shoot, worst come to worst, you could just head downtown Saturday, catch a shuttle to the stadium, ride back downtown after the game, party downtown and catch Uber back to Corporate.
