Academy has a pretty good selection. They have chunks and chips, I believe they have split logs as well.

Order it online from somewhere that won't send you dried out crap like you will get at Academy. Fruitawood is decent.

If you are willing to drive, there is a guy on westbank on Manhattan (or it might be Belle Chase hwy at that point) right before Ochsner West Bank that sells wood and ducks.

Yeah, I'm no help then. I've used fruitawood a few times now though, they have shipped me some decent chunks for smoking if you ever want to order ahead of time.
Anyone ever use orange tree wood from Plaquemines, want to try that some time.

I assumed he needed it like today or tomorrow, that's why I suggested Academy. I did forget about Basil's but they as so stupid expensive. After thinking about it a drive to Goodwood hardware in Baton Rouge might be the best bet. I know some order smoking woods online but that's not exactly cheap either.

Lester I was actually gonna run to the place on BCH because I work on base out there and I need some wood myself. I can pick some up for you and you can get it from me if you live on the east bank...

Do you smoke with unseasoned wood?
ETA rouses, academy, Home Depot has chunks and maybe mini-splits. Bassil's Ace Hardware used to have a decent selection too.

I usually find what I need at my local Ace Hardware store. They sell BGEs and have a choice of woods. Academy has a nice selection as well. If you need a lot of wood there is a place on the wank on Belle Chasse Highway right near the Plaquimines parish line that has tons of wood and I have bought Hickory and oak from him before.
Good for large pig roasts and such, plus you pay a lot less there.
ETA -I should read threads before responding, lol Bassil's and The place on BCH were both mentioned.
