Need Reco's for the best OPB in Nawlins.
Pretty much given up on BR. Everything is too small and not enough bang for the buck.
Looking for a "Sandwich of Substance" to where I will not still be hungry when leaving the establishment.
I have yet to try any of the well known PB locations in NOLA.
My "Go To" Po-Boy place is Bears in Covington, but looking for something on the southern side of the Lake..................

The St. Louie at Katie's in mid-city is pretty fantastic. It is my favorite.

Casamento's would be my first choice then Crabby Jack's.
If you want to get out of New Orleans then Parentons is the best oyster poboy around.

quote:My two fav all time PB's are at Bears in downtown Covington. (Hamburger and BBQ Beef) Never even tried anything else there, but will try the Oyster next time.
Bears, fried hard
They are only open from 11-3 pm Tues-Sat, which is very inconvenient for my late Afternoon-Night schedule.............

Has anybody tried and liked the old favorites, Parkway and Domilises?
Would like to cross them off my NOLA food "Bucket List."

Parkway does a real good oyster poboy, but only once or twice a week.

A lot of places in New Orleans do fried oysters wrong. They're either battered with too much corn meal or over-fried.
Cassamento's oyster loaf would be my first recommendation. Crabby Jack's is another good option... Jacques knows how to fry an oyster. For a hidden gem, John's Seafood in old Algiers is a solid bet.

Zimmers on St Anthony in Gentilly has the best oyster poboy. I've had them all. Best bread, batter, and they are not stingy w/ the oysters. Order dressed w/ hot sauce and get fries.
You are all welcome.
