The best Tex-Mex is El Paso off of Sherwood. It is great every time we go, consistent with big portions.

Definitely my favorite Tex-Mex In BR and Gonzales(they have another location across I-10 from Tanger on Hwy30).

El Meskal in Gonzales is my favorite Mexican food of all time. Is it still open? I haven't been by there in a while, mostly because of El Paso.

Don't write off El Magey. I know it's not the 'best of' and is technically a buffet but.... It's not Panchos. It's a "better than decent" all you can eat place with chicken, pork, beef, shrimp, veggie fajitas for $12.

For a real Mexican El Pasta Dorado on Florida, it aspires to a little hole in the wall

Tex mex El Paso. The owner of El Paso used to work at La Carreta then opened up his own place.

I have never been to this dump. I get nostalgia and that it is older than the monkey at Fun Fair Park, but is it any good?

El Rio Grande Blah!

Was told how great it was by at least three people, all older people.
I`d bet my entire week`s paycheck the Queso they served me was cheez Wiz out of the jar.

The rest was not great either. Will never eat there again.

ElPaso on Sherwood, has been great. The only complaint I have is after we are done eating. It`s like the waiter disappears each time we`ve visited. It takes them awhile to bring the check for some reason. I`ve eaten there around 7 times with great food each time. Tried 3 different entrees in those visits.

No way you know what you're talking about if that's how you feel.

If y'all don't like Baton Rouge's current selection of Mexican restaurants, don't worry, more are on the way...unless Trump does something to stop it.

I have to agree here. I have been to most in the BR area and am still in search of a great one. We have found several that are good or passable but not great. There has been an alarming trend in the BR Tex-mex scene of oversalting everything over the last year. I am noticing it more and more as we search for GREAT tex-mex.

I used to like Coyote Blues and Mestizo's, then while visiting the Houston area my a-hole friend took me around, I can't even look at BR TexMex again. It's 2 entirely different products.

La Morinita, but it's more of a plate lunch place than a restaurant.

Thanks for all of the answers. Trying to see what the best ambiance for a big group for one of these places would be.

My favorite in BR is La Mornita, but like said earlier, its more of a take out, quick lunch spot. I always get 3 tacos and a mexican coke and im in heaven. They used to serve tortas but the last time i went, i saw that they had took it off their menu.

When we go dine-out for mexican we usually go to La Coretta or Coyote Blues (close to the house) or El Rancho on Florida for the fajitas.

El Rio Grande is very good, but a far drive for us.

If you are into Honduran food, La Reyna is very good. Good hole in the wall place.
