There's a reason my butt hasn't hit one of Moran's seats, and I don't think it's going to happen.

Some reviews...and they don't look too good. Of all the choices in New Orleans, some poor guy took his wife there for their 30th anniversary.

quote:

We will never forget our 30th wedding anniversary dinner, it was so very bad. We don't mind paying for good food, this was not. The meal was so grossly overpriced it was insane. I paid $37 for a meal that contained no meat, just pasta and a salad. And it was not good pasta either. My husband ordered the veal. His cost way more than mine and was even worse. Dried veal, he'd swear it was a patty and not a cutlet, and a dried pile of spaghetti with almost no sauce on it. Also, the portions were incredibly small. Bar prices were even worse. One shot of JD was $12. They should be ashamed serving that dried up food and charging those prices. We think our waiter was high. He could not look at us and his mannerisms indicated impairment. Atmosphere does not impress us. Good food at a good price and good service are what make a good restaurant. Tony Moran's sucks.

Strange, I've never known anyone in the restaurant industry to drink or smoke weed. I didn't think that ever happened.

Someone on here recently recommended Mojo Lounge, and it was a real pleasant surprise. Had a nice chicken tortellini w/salad for $11, which certainly isn't bad for the Quarter.

Just curious if this place is legit.

It is a legit money laundering operation for the NOLA mob. As a restaurant......

I think they also own Absinthe House, though not sure. Recently Mitch took that man's Bentley! That just aint right. The prices at both place are directly the result of one of two strategies a) they will be too drunk to care b) we will never see them again, anyway

The absinthe house bar prices are criminal. Besides its proximity to Galatoires, the love of that place by the New Orleans legal community is baffling.

Thankfully, the guy I work with will keep a tab running at the Remoulade bar on the days we have to go hang out down there. Much more convenient.

Randomly, I ducked in there for a bloody mary years ago. It was in a 12oz plastic cup, nondescript, and the price tag was outrageous.

You know I think putting a bar in at Antoine's is probably keeping that old girl afloat, it is now where people go to get away from the amateurs at Absinthe.

I know, right? That's incredible. Why on earth would anyone think the place is worth a shite?

As far as the Olde Absinthe House is concerned, it used to be okay before they doubled the prices on everything. They used to have an old bowling machine where a couple of the old timer lawyers would actually hang out and hustle us young guys. I lost a lot of money after long lunches down the street. A damned shuffle board bowling machine.

I rarely step foot near the place now. Too many lawyers give me hives.

I met a couple from out of town at lunch today. They asked what I did for a living and I told them. They said that everyone they had met so far was a lawyer.

Chef Duke's Cafe Giovanni.

Best wedge salad I've ever had.

The bar area kicks arse for a drink prior to your seating.

Absolutely no consensus here as you can see. It would probably be difficult to gather a top 3.

Make sure you go on a night they have the opera singers.

One of my favorite places to eat period. And Duke is cool guy.
