I've yet to try the food since they change things up. One of my favorite bars.

Swamp Room

I thought Cowbell was good, but not great. I didn't like Phil's Grill at all. It was dry. But I only went once, so it was probably an off day. I hated Yo Mama's. Had a very weird consistency. Port of Call is good, but not worth the raves. Crappy bun.

How can you have Swamp Room listed as one of the best, and then bash Port of Call as not worth the raves?

The Swamp Burger may be the most overrated burger in the city. I don't find however they season their meat to be particularly good, and I have to douse it with A1 sauce to enjoy it. I shouldn't have to do that for a "best in the city" burger.

Just the fact that I have to walk into swamp room makes it a horrible burger. If I want that style burger I just go to Beachcorner.

I would hardly classify it as "bashing" by saying that Port of Call is a good burger, but not worth the raves.

Furthermore, my biggest issue with Port of Call is that their bun is crap.

I like Swamp Room's burgers, though I haven't been in at least two years because I have great burgers near me without going to Metairie.

To each his own.

I just can't see bashing Port of Call's bun and praising Swamp Room's. I can tell you as I've had one recently Swamp Room's bun is nothing special at all.

Unless I'm crazy, I think they are essentially the same bun.

Crap buns plague a number of otherwise decent burgers 'round town. Phil's Grill has absolutely awful, squishy, sweet, disintegrating buns.

Phil's is another burger I don't get the love for. I was completely unimpressed by their regular burger, and I tried the filet burger or whatever they do, and it was only marginally better. But then you were talking about a $12 burger with nothing else. No thanks.

Bud's is a classic, but this P*$$y won't like it "because of the cold cheese."

That's why Charcoals baked their own in house.

The issue with POC's bun is the bun to meat ratio. I don't find SR to have that issue.

Okay, that's a fair point.

If I recall, Swamp Room is a much more flattened patty than port of call.

I've been hearing about Yo Mama's for years. I finally went this past weekend. It was about 2:15 when we got there. I ordered it medium rare, it took 50 minutes to get the burger and it was charred burnt. I didn't have time to wait around for another burger. Worst burger I've ever had. I don't know what was going on, but the bartender told me that they got swamped. Funny, there was only 2 people upstairs eating when we got there. I'll give them another chance, but that was a pretty horrible first try.

I went at midnight a couple of years ago and it was cooked perfectly...we waited three hours

I'm sure a drunk food place like that has it's bad nights.

I would be interested to go back during regular hours
