Went to LA Bayou Bistro for their buffet a few months ago. It was terrible.

How so?

I've gotten my money's worth there many, many times.

Did you fill up on Parmesan chicken? Rookie move.

If you know how to work it, you can definitely get a worthwhile meal.

Is Ruth's Chris a better meal? Oh hell yes, no comparison. But TdB is far from a waste of money. I would in fact argue that it is a value for those that know how to eat there, and can eat a boat load of steak.

Not on BR, but the House of Seafood in Bush is the best seafood buffet I have seen.

Is this place still open? I remember my parents taking me there but it's probably been about 20 years ago. Definitely the biggest seafood buffet I have ever seen.

It's right there by St George across from the old driving range in that small strip mall. Used to be a chinese buffet which I also liked

Damn, everything chicken from them is dry. Anything beef is usually pretty good.

The lamb chops are delicious at TdB. But I get in a cyber fight everytime I say the salad bar isn't as good as the one at Jason's Deli.

I tried to go to Bay Leaf at 5:15 PM on a Friday and those fricks' doors were locked.

El magey is incredible

seriously, If you are starving and enjoy Mexican food, they are the best. They also serve Margaritas

I would fight you over that you're lucky I'm in a good mood today.

I will grant you this... the "salad" portion of the bar does not have as many veggie options as Jason's.

But, as a whole, TdB wins.

TdB ranch is better
Real bacon
Smoked salmon
Assortment of delicious cheeses
Those balsamic onion things
Did I meantion real bacon?

Because to get your money's worth you have to a fatty with no self-respect and have to leave uncomfortably full of food and self-hatred.

Lots of bland, nondescript, overcooked stuff straight from a can. Nothing fresh. Catfish tough as shoe leather.

House of Seafood is still open -- went over the summer -- but let's be honest, the food quality isn't the best. I still like it, though. There are some other seafood buffets as well: Landry's in New Iberia (not the chain), White's in Husser, Cajun Catfish in Ville Platte, Lagneauxs in Lafayette, Vine Bros in Centreville

This is one of the dumbest things I've ever read on the food board.

Buffets are not meant for every cuisine, Indian does OK because most of the dishes are sauce based, Mid-eastern is a buffet disaster, shwarma or gyros sitting on a steam table for 15 minutes is inedible, same with falafels.

I likes Al Noor for a while, the last 3 visits were embarrassing because I recommended it and brought friends to a shite show.

I stay away from Asian because the crap they put out on the steam table is terrible compared to cook to order.

I just don't care for all the crap you can eat. Quantity isn't quality. .
