I know that buffets are generally frowned upon on this board, but there are quite a few in the area that are pretty darn good. That being said, here are my choices for the best buffets in the area, based on ethnicity:

Mexican: El Magey
Japanese/Sushi: Sushi Masa
Chinese: Foo Chow (Walker), esp. on Fri/Sat nights
Thai: Thai Pepper
Indian: Al Noor

We need a legit "country" buffet -- Country Kitchen in Gonzales sucks. Also a legit Greek/Lebanese buffet would be nice

Any others worthy of mention? Bergeron's Saturday BBQ buffet is OK, but not one of my favorites.

Oriental Pearl at Sherwood & Coursey was always pretty decent when I worked in the area.

I was always partial to Curry & Kabab but I saw somebody say they've suspended the buffet for some reason.

Not in BR, but Country Kitchen in Gonzales will put you in a coma if you don't take it easy.

Al Noor was inedible the last time we went. Bay Leaf is now our go-to since Curry N' Kebab quit doing the buffet.

Al-Noor has been my go-to for Indian but admittedly I haven't been there in several months. Bay Leaf is good as well.

TDB is OK, if you feel like spending $50+ a head, something I'm not often inclined to do. I personally find their meats to be too salty.

Never cared much for Oriental Pearl, but my woman loves it.

As stated prior, I'm not a fan of Country Kitchen. It's a shame, because Mississippi has many that are great.

They have a little bit of everything, and it varies day-by-day. I've been going there for 15-20 years and have never been disappointed. It's my favorite lunch spot in the city.

Not on BR, but the House of Seafood in Bush is the best seafood buffet I have seen.

Haven't been to Louisiana Bayou Bistro for lunch in a while, but they did have a good country buffet, that had home cooking and fried fish, etc.

Anybody know if they still have a lunch buffet?

A variety of curries, stir-fried entrees, noodles(including pad thai), vegetarian stuff etc. Thai Pepper is the GOAT buffet in BR.
