Best BBQ in between Dallas and Houston?

I'm making the drive right now, and after 6 months outside the South, I need some legit Q. And I've never truly had Texas BBQ (chains don't count). So, what's on that road that will make me forget about Carolina BBQ?

Dickey's
I couldn't post this with a straight face.

Nothing. Not that Texas Q isn't great, but it is a whole different animal. Literally.
As an aside, western or eastern Carolina?

Corkscrew BBQ in Spring (just off I-45). On the top 50 list in TX. Better hurry because they sell out.

New Zion Missionary Baptist Church and BBQ in Huntsville.

This is correct. If you want pork based BBQ, my experience is that TX has a lot to learn. OTOH, the beef brisket east of the MS is like a whole 'nuther (vastly inferior) species than what's smoked in TX.

I bet he goes there, chews the meat, and spits it out.

Literally, it is. But I figured bringing up Carolina might invoke some Texas pride.
I was in western Carolina, though ate the best Q in upstate South Carolina (though 12 Bones in Asheville was incredible).
Though I've been in Denver for the last six months. And I have a hard time calling what they cooked BBQ.
And I did lie in OP. I stopped at Tyler's BBQ in Amarillo, and that was incredible.

I agree 100%. Must brisket I've had out east isn't good. And you also only find pork sausage, and never beef.

I saw this BBQ restaurant on the Top 10 Restaurants with Food Network Magazine. It is now on my bucket list. Only open on Saturdays?
Snow's BBQ
