First time going to Peche will be this Saturday with another couple. I was wondering what the attire would be for a Saturday night. Jeans and nice shirt? Dress pants casual shirt? Etc.

I've been reading that the smoked tuna appetizer is a must get. Other than the whole fish, is there any other must get items on the menu?

I think the only required item is a wallet with plenty of cash inside.

jeans and oxford would absolutely be fine or dress pants, either way you will not be out of place

its pretty casual

Martini---"if you must ask"

I screwed up and wore slacks and a button down shirt to Louisiana Lagniappe in BR once during the summer. Me and a few other gents were way over dressed.

I honestly can't really think of too many restaurants in Louisiana where slacks and a button down wouldn't at least be acceptable.

The last time I went to August for dinner, I was wearing dark jeans, dress shoes, a button down and a blazer with a pocket square, and I was still probably one of the most dressed up people there.

Its pretty casual. You could wear shorts, to be honest. I wouldn't, but you could. Like I said, it is very casual.

I saw yesterday that the new Caribbean room requires jackets for men, so that makes only 2 places that I am aware of in NOLA that requires them.

I don't think you can go anywhere near wrong there. I've enjoyed everything I've had from the snacks to the entrees. The soup/gumbo options have been very good, also. I love sharing a bunch of snacks with folks to start. The whole fish is delicious and it's a "must have" at least once, though I've had it several times. With 4 folks, it's easily sharable with other dishes.

Yeah, I'm waiting to see how long that last. Getting people to wear jackets in the summer in Nola these days is tough.

Make damned sure you have a reservation. As people here have heard me say, the only time you can really walk in is mid afternoon. I had reason to peek in this past Friday and it was jammed to the gills (pun intended). I had to go back Saturday afternoon when the restaurant was about half full.

The oyster shucker must have left. He used to have a plaque hanging on the wall by the raw bar of his "fastest shucker" award. It was gone and so was he, but I didn't ask. Presley seemed to be training someone new. No sighting of Chef Prewitt either this time, although I'm sure he's not going anywhere.

Out of curiosity, I just looked at Peche reservations for this Saturday night and you're looking at 5:30 or 9pm, and it's probably going to be a circus at those times too. Again, if you really want to try the place and you don't already have reservations, go mid afternoon.

Always get whatever sort of raw tuna they have as an appetizer. The whole fish option is nice size to share, although I usually polish one off by myself. This past Saturday it was redfish. They have a fish filet of the day as well and it was wahoo and I'm not a fan. Fishing...yes, eating...not so much. Desserts are awesome and I've never had any dish I didn't like there. I hope you get to enjoy.

Thanks for the awesome advice. I actually have already made my reservation, which is set for 930. The other couple doesn't get off work until late. What about parking? Is there an abundance of pay lot around there? Or is it hectic?

You'll be fine with parking at that hour.

I think most any decent attire will do, from what I saw. However a hairdo that looks like a backlashed Abu Garcia and some ironic facial hair are a must if you were wanting to join the waitstaff.
