Just read about putting artichokes in with the corn, potatoes, mushrooms, and onions...Anyone know if you boil them whole, or half them?

If you cut them and remove the choke then..does the artichoke fall apart similar to the onion?

TIA.

We just throw them in whole. They need to boil 25-30 minutes.

I usually just throw them in whole if I'm forced to add them

Forced?

I'll do just 1 since it's just me and the wife...just to see if we like them or not...

Do they soak up the seasonings well?

Have not tried artichokes, but cauliflower can be hot as hell if left in the boil too long...

seasoning really gets into the crevices of the artichokes. It's awesome. I always throw some in, whole. Don't halve.

In my last boil I added sweet potatoes and asparagus. Both were pretty tasty and I think they might be part of my usual boils now.

you need to get out more. Baby corn, canned green beans, hot dogs, chicken breasts, pork shoulder, Call me once you have emptied your freezer into your crawfish pot.

LOL. I'm Catholic. Typical crawfish boils occurred on Good Friday when I was in Louisiana...no meat.

Pretty traditional...mushrooms were just added back in 2005 or so.

Artichokes are great. I put them in with the potatoes, which I boil for 10-15 minutes before putting in the crawfish. This works perfect every time

So you're not a fan of the boil infused choke?

Do tell why, please?

artichokes have a delicate flavor and should be boiled or steamed in water, then served with melted butter and salt only.

Somebody on here was talking about putting a pineapple with the boil a while back... I've done artichokes, but never a pineapple. As far as the veggies go, the artichoke ends up being my least favorite (except for the garlic... I don't like just eat chunks of garlic).

My brother had some boil-infused mushrooms for the first time on Good Friday and he almost feel out of his chair with pleasure...

We threw a pineapple in our boil and it was amazing.

Artichoke and brussel spouts are money too

I didn't find it to be anything special.

My favorite non traditional vegetable in a boil will always be cauliflower. But you have to put it in the potato sack because it falls to pieces.
