I hope all of you have been doing stomach stretching exercises in preparation of the upcoming Jazz Fest weekend. I certainly put in some work this weekend. I had to house sit this weekend, so I wasn't staying Uptown. I had to bring my talents to Algiers.

On Friday, I went over to the house and made myself several bourbons. They were very good. I shot the shite with my friends, while we waited to make our reservations and Saffron.

After the bullshite was over, we headed to Gretna to take on the Indian powerhouse's delicacies. The parking lot situated to Saffron is hilarious. I'm pretty sure I saw a dad walk his daughter from a bar to his truck to make her do some homework, while he went back inside.

I started my meal with an old fashion from their cocktail menu. This was the only thing I didn't enjoy. They made it with Crown Maple. I'm not sure how that crossed the pond. The lady got a margarita. It was decent.

The owner sent over some homemade pate, which was made for a catered event. It was outstanding. The one with the pepper danced along my taste buds.

We started our meal with crabmeat pudha, aloo tikkie, garlic naan. They were all solid.

I finished the cocktail and ordered an Indian whiskey. It was rather smoky but good.

We then ordered the main event. We got bone-in goat, lamb chops, chicken, and the gulf fish. We didn't share the entrees, but I tried all of them. My dish was the goat, and I went to town on that four legged animal.

I wish Saffron was open more often. The food is great, and the restaurant is very appealing. The owners are very nice too. I named dropped a few Indians when conversing with the owner, and he told me I could show up any time I'd like when they were cooking for catering events. He also sent me home with some more pate!!

After dinner, we returned to the house. I grabbed some more bourbon and watched numerous reruns of "COPS." The only thing that could have made my night better was a piece of confetti cake to pair with the show and bourbon. Since I didn't have cake, I opted for these tea cookies which tasted like petit fours.

On Saturday, I awoke to run my usual errands. I crossed the CCC, but had to reroute my trip since they were installing a bridge across Andrew Higgins for the WW2 museum. I passed Bittersweet and recalled several people on here talking about it. I grabbed an iced coffee and a cinnamon roll. That roll was damn strong, and I'd likely fight my mom to have another. The icing had a cream cheese flavor and was very fluffy.

It was a rainy morning, so I didn't go jogging. I opted for the confines of the barstool at Lafitte's. I ordered a Beam and threw some jams on. The Pentecostals didn't seem to enjoy Jodeci's "Freak'n You."

Some bachelors came in and started to ruin my buzz. I had to meet a client to drop of some money to him, so I went to his place in the Quarter. I walked in and saw a blood orange he had missed. I grabbed a ladder and pulled it down to make an old fashion.

After that, I walked to Amelie to grab a drink before the Pels game. The rain decided to hold up for a little bit, so I walked around. I became hungry and wanted a poor boy.

I crossed the CCC and went to Dimartino's. I love their italian bread. I got the roast beef with mayo, lettuce and swiss. It was delicious and hit the spot.

After the game, I went to my brother's. We were all going across the lake to have dinner with my parents. I grabbed some Beam at his place and put on a basketball clinic on my niece's little tyke's basketball goal. She ended up with a ball to the face.

We all piled in and headed to Phil's Marina Grill in Slidell. I have always enjoyed this restaurant. It's very casual and the food is decent. You can even arrive by boat.

I grabbed a few Fat Tires and ordered a pound of royal reds. The reds were great, but I forgot to take a picture somehow. There were certainly more than a pound, so I shared them with my bro. They were prepared like I prepare them. (Boiled with a little salt, no seasoning and served with butter.)

For dinner, I always get the shrimp special, which is 24 shrimp and fries. I also ordered some onion rings, baked macaroni and potato salad. They special is always great. I could have done without the macaroni and potato salad. They weren't that good.

My neice wanted some dessert. She opted for the key lime pie. She went to town on that shite.

After dinner, I headed back to Algiers to pound some more bourbon and watch more COPS. I could sleep in since I had a baptism to attend on Sunday. The mass was at 1230 as opposed to my 930 mass.

I awoke to a breakfast prepared by the lady. I'm not much of a breakfast eater, but I would reconsider my stance if this was my daily option.

After breakfast, I showered and leisurely got ready for the day. I was told all week the mass was for noon, so I left around 11 in case I had to speak with the priest about my responsibilities.

I called my buddy to let him know I was close, and he told me the mass wasn't for another hour. I didn't want to sit in my car for that long, so I ducked into Parlay's and grabbed one of those Summer Shandy's. The bar was empty, but the bartender was cute. I probably creeped her out, so I left after I finished the beer.

I then went to the church and the baptism. After the mass, the dad and I grabbed a tall boy and headed to his parents for an after party. The food was outstanding, and the weather was great.

They had numerous options to choose from. Those Italian women outdid themselves. My favorites were the homemade italian sausage and salmon tart. After a couple of rounds, I grabbed some Beam and went to the dock to drink.

. . . .

After my drink, I headed back to the Quarter to meet a client. You know I had to grab a cream puff on the way out. I was upset no one had cut the cake yet.

I got to Lafitte's and it was packed. On Sunday afternoons, the boys start gathering around 4. I ordered a Beam and talked with some friends. After the Beam, I grabbed a Dixie and reviewed some papers.

After my work was done, we went to Courtyard for another beer and dinner. Saigon Slims was there. We ordered the pork and round-eye banh mi to share. I'm not sure what beer I had.

I was not a fan of the beef. The pork was delicious though. There was plenty of food in the trays for the price. I left full and somewhat happy.

When I got home, I threw on the television and passed out. It was a good weekend.

Next week, we fest. Stay fat, my friends.

They have cheaper places in town. These things aren't your everyday Banh Mi you get at the typical Viet joint.

Did they have italian flags hanging on the ceiling and mini ones in some of the dishes? Just curious because I saw pics from a friend yesterday that look similar to yours. Food looked awesome.

No. The girls were welcomed into the Catholic church yesterday. They decided to take the flags down in observance of God.
